Today’s Thought “New Year, Same Me?” G. Ward Ephesians 4 23 And that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. At the end of every year our church phone rings aggressively with inquiries on whether we’re having “Watch Night” services and when I politely say that we are not, but offer our worship service time, they too are polite, but I sense they want to hang up because choice furthered will unfold their anticipation elsewhere. I’ve explained to our congregation a need to watch, but not according to man’s calendar and although I understand (with celebration) its origin, it’s become this “be it resolved” session with comparability in starting a diet next Monday versus now. The demand for spiritual renewal won’t involve your and mine working alongside of the Almighty, but is established through a daily, intimate pursuit of HIS Word and whereas many attend these spectacular services, some leave immediately thereafter for a new dance floor, diminishing prior worship sought.

Today’s Thought “Strangers In the Night” G. Ward 1 Peter 1:13-17 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile. I’m often challenged with how to express to a people the absolutism of God’s Truth as some insist on owning themselves along with saying He is Lord. It (the challenge) will often include questions on lifestyles, alcoholic beverages, perspectives, etc., and whereas Heaven’s demand is not obscured, self-absorption/abasement remains; so let’s be clear. Holy God is all knowing, everywhere and with unlimited power! Therefore, looking for clearance from others is always bogus (cf.Ro.10:8). Whatever you do, imagine doing it in HIS presence. Now what?

Today’s Thought “Over-Thinking…” G. Ward Proverbs 11:17 A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself. Many are quick to judge a book by the cover and whereas they’ve experienced periodic bouts in being correct, assessing failures is rarely entertained. Moreover, one unnecessarily analytical can often limit blessings that forbid genuine relationships by this same attitude to render grace, forgetting their own time of improper, even confusing statements, to never be afforded a do-over because the other party left the room (permanently) to forget mercy afforded them. We must work while it’s still light.

Today’s Thought “Gifts for Grandchildren” G. Ward 1 Kings 11 37 However I will take you, and you shall reign over all that you desire, and you shall be king over Israel. 38 Then it shall be, that if you listen to all that I command you and walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight by keeping My statutes and My commandments, as My servant David did, then I will be with you and build you an enduring house as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you. While children have little to no appreciation for unraveling gifts revealing cute clothing, the men they’ll become will. Legacy building is similarly felt and best considered not through standards that deliver potential frivolity silver and gold may pervade, but a holy example from ancestral obedience granting peace on earth, along with a promised eternity onto our Blessed Hope.

Today’s Thought “Lost Without YOU!” G. Ward Matthew 1 22 Now all this took place so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled: 23 “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN WILL CONCEIVE AND GIVE BIRTH TO A SON, AND THEY SHALL NAME HIM IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.” If I awaken more to the news of the day, including that which I deem motivational and surround myself with only those estimated as favorable, I discount HIS sacrifice. If all my anticipation of this momentous weekend (including the next) forgets HIS return, my living is in vain. If I’m caught up in me-ism for the predominance of the day, my refusal to imitate HIM denies the very premise of HIS existence and whereas there’s been guilt concerning my own shortcoming(s), HE yet hears my contrition and is there to restore me onto best…

Today’s Thought “The Salvation Army” G. Ward 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. The quintessential ministry organization that renders unconditional benevolent care is The Salvation Army. Their greatest annual campaign involves bell ringing outside of major retail stores with red buckets, inviting generosity from others for the cause of many less fortunate. My years in the pastorate have witnessed many in need and whereas we’ve done our best in meeting their deficiencies, some have returned to say the local Salvation Army church was there to aid. I’m grateful for their service; first unto our Lord and then others. On today I want to celebrate my Dear Brother/Pastor Kendall Mathews and lovely wife Katrina for their unwavering ministry in this very fine organization. I hope that you’ll consider giving generously, for theirs is beyond this season…

Today’s Thought “One Is A Lonely Number” G. Ward 1 Thessalonians 5:14 And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. Imagine if every season embodied the hospitality of the two weeks in late December where greetings in the marketplace flowed without provocation, including intentional acts of benevolence sought to find some less fortunate became a daily mantra? While this may appear to be idealism at best, it’s mostly fairy-tale because most will await the populous to move on this versus letting it begin with themselves (1 Thess.4:13-*18)…

Today’s Thought “Dual Dependency” G. Ward Luke 11:17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls. When I was growing up many tampered in wrongful spirituality, seeking something strongly desired and while it appears to have diminished greatly, those exercising therein are more covert with their consultation unto mediums of sorts; even up to suggesting they belong to Christ. While Madame Zenobia (indicative of fortune telling), gambling (justified), consultations with insistence that false spiritual leaders read into your life when our Lord demanded we receive spiritual bread (His Word) daily and particularly when many of these same leaders fail to possess an ability to know whether there’s to be a next moment, along with quick advice record from those outside of faith in Christ, has become a foolish straddling on a barbed-wire fence.

Today’s Thought “No Matter What the People Say…” G. Ward 1 Peter 2:12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation. There’s selective prioritization given from many who indicate it doesn’t make a difference what others say about them and while portions of inaccuracy can be the rendering from some unsteady, we’re called to do our best in all ways. Christ exemplified the best attitude with those fiercest opponents, even knowing of their plot to take His life and yet gave His life freely for them also and whereas we’re called to imitate Him, along with heavenly insistence to love our enemies with a sacrificial spirit, what shall we render?

Today’s Thought “To Be, or Not to Be” G. Ward Romans 7: 15 For I do not understand what I am doing; for I am not practicing what I want to do, but I do the very thing I hate. 16 However, if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, that the Law is good. 17 But now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 19 For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. 20 But if I do the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin that dwells in me. There’s this common expression given by the “super guarded” that insists they hate any who are fake. While I too may be bothered and perplexed concerning superficial portrayals, I must first admit to an unscientific assessment in who I’ve been, particularly with multiple personality disorder (undiagnosed). I however am busy, not assessing my violating others as much, but my failure to consistently present my absolute devotion to my Lord. It appears “fake” is relative to me. What saith you (cf. Jas.2:8-10)?

Today’s Thought “Re-Assessing Defining Moments” G. Ward Revelation 7:9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands. The term “Evangelical” has become relative to a political/social ideology. Instead, its definition belongs to any who promote the gospel, along with being determined to assist in rescuing the perishing and whereas many think of themselves as effectual therein, they discount being heard the more because the populous first knows their politics, before the Savior and whereas our supposed trust demands we do so implicitly, we fail in the most foundational message provided. Christ has no need to partner with systems – He is entirely Sufficient! Sadly, many who have obtained mercy forget that the world is doing exactly what’s acceptable in their estimation and as we’ve been instructed, even transformed, so shall they – if we’re merciful first by never forgetting “such were some of us…”

Today’s Thought “Lack of Resolve” G. Ward John 13:35 “By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.” Murder rates in American cities have sky-rocketed and people want answers and whereas there’s a common neglect unto their demand, they yet philosophize the more. Hire more police! No, limit assault weaponry and bring back the electric chair! Moreover, if these people would just watch their kids… Diversionary tactics from many have been the defense mechanisms exercised by man from the beginning and while we were never meant to govern ourselves, having been created for HIS purpose, free will given, can promote rebellion in man (the more) and the categorical judgment unto others leaves him angry when their book of ethics is denied. Disaster of sorts becomes the eventuality when any pompously state “some” just won’t cooperate. Instead and always, LOVE is the answer and the only counteraction for blatant sin and whereas discussions of sorts appear prudent, the saga continues…

Today’s Thought “Turn up the Light!” G. Ward Matthew 16 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. Churches are closing at an alarming rate and while you think it’s primarily attributable to the recent pandemic, you’ll need to know the decline witnessed In 2020, pervaded that 47% of Americans said they belonged to a church, synagogue or mosque, down from 50% in 2018 and 70% in 1999. I’m never satisfied to hear the term church, relative to worship centers; because it belongs to people surrendered to Christ and SOLELY based on their confession of Him as Sufficient to forgive and to guide. Therefore, we’re not (nor have ever been) in decline, the world is (*Matt.7:21-23) and while others rejoice in the numbers game, we remain responsible unto the message (re-produced), where few get it (Matt.7:13-14)… I shall not be moved.

Today’s Thought “Spirituality: The Big Assignment” G. Ward Acts 26:16 But rise and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you. While many are pursuant to their ancestral lineage so as to hear of predecessors esteemed by men that bolsters their own pride, or an unclaimed inheritance that fattens their fiscal posture – remains a spiritual claim waiting adoption. The riches it provides is from One Progenitor and while everyone with claimants in wealth unto their children have died, HE absolutely lives; having endured great suffering and shame on behalf of any that will make Him owner of their lives and whereas being good enough can’t be named among any hereafter, we praise HIM for HIS righteousness; deciding to proclaim this great eventuality to all. There’s still room…

Today’s Thought “Local Freeway vs. Interstate” G. Ward John 14 12 Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I am going to the Father. Route 66’s original starting point began in downtown Chicago and ended at the Santa Monica pier in California and whereas the interstate system in America enabled a faster travel, it disabled an option perhaps more noteworthy than advertisements on billboards. Our sense in what’s best (as believers) compromises future progress found in others similarly, in that when/if we construct ideas (seemingly prudent) that benefit mankind now, but violate eternality, it discounts the “greater” avenue of the Savior’s discourse for those surrendered to Him and whereas His work while admonishing with these words wasn’t completed, the full price is now paid entirely (but don’t go too fast on that freeway either, or you’ll miss the billboard that invites you to sup on “our daily bread” – so that power will exist.).

Today’s Thought “Historical Notation” G. Ward Psalm 85:6 Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? While we seek to make the passages of God applicable to our times and very particularly to this land, may we remember this song sung happened on recall of what their (Israel’s) homeland represented before their disobedience unto the Almighty’s way landed them in a strange land, owned by the unruly, to then be granted a return whereby their front lawns were greatly overgrown and whereas ours never went uninhabited, even meticulously manicured, we may have forgotten that our insides (i.e. our hearts) are with great scar tissue soon to hinder normal functioning whereby I may be consumed (Ac.3:19)…

Today’s Thought “Always Believing in LOVE” G. Ward Isaiah 40:29-31 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. This time of year for a child impatiently waits December 25th, but they believe it’s coming and the constraint of the wait helps tame these young souls concerning a spiritual future. Many belonging to the fellowship of Christ witness (more than ever before) a teeter-tottering from those expressing to know Holy God on His terms while with exploration of things regarded spiritual outside of words sanctioned. For them, God’s Word fails to deliver soul satisfaction for their regard to be recognized soon enough and then others have become intentional creatures of peculiarity, even portraying names of God relative to their religious stance as if HE is many (Deut.6:4-7). When I was a child, I spake that way because my capacity was far limited and whereas the key component of humility first admits how much lower I am against the Creator’s omnipotence, I’ll digress…

Today’s Thought “Bells Will Be Ringing” G. Ward Psalm 122:1 I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to the house of the LORD.” I’m recalling the attitude of man during this holiday period long ago. Many (from the marketplace) would look so intently to wish you a Merry Christmas and whereas our pace involves moving quickly onto a next venue, even to forget an item or two, common courtesy is often forsaken also. The days of old (relative to this Psalm) offered singing as worshippers would walk to their place of worship and this particular song’s prefacing remembered the heartache of life’s many circumstance; that to which understood sufferings as commonplace, but would visualize the soon arrival with others of faith (in the same) to praise HIM who grants soul reprieve unto these victims where mediocrity was so pervasive among the nations. Find a song of thanksgiving as you interact in the same; it might help ensure that others hear great salutations not offered by the populous.

Today’s Thought “Bought by A Price?” G. Ward Numbers 22:18 But Balaam replied to the servants of Balak, “Even if Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not do anything, either small or great, contrary to the command of the LORD my God. While commendations from mankind may be the initial premise to good deeds, there could be silent entry to positive points in conscience more desired than wicked intent (cf. Nu.22-24) and if not nurtured through careful examination unto obedience to the only script that matters (Matt.24:35), a return to mediocrity boulevard is inevitable.

Today’s Thought “Genuine In Heart” G. Ward Proverbs 23 1 When you sit down to dine with a ruler, consider carefully what is before you 2 and put a knife to your throat if you are a person of great appetite. 3 Do not desire his delicacies, for it is deceptive food. Going to the funeral of a rich man who while alive was a strong acquaintance and whereas you found continuity in things he said and did (even when not in agreement) and whereas your contemplations hoped his generosity (imagined) would visit you, this compromise blinded what’s actual; because of his demise, he won’t know if you’ve attended or not. There’s so many forsaken who are rich in mercy and seasoned with grace and it’s their example that teaches the qualitative essence of peace and joy, revealing how contentment is a better avenue for residence sake.

Today’s Thought “Far Too Familiar” G. Ward John 4 24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” Let’s see; Jesus, no Yeshua Hamashiach, the Son of God, Lord, Emmanuel, Christ, Son of Man, etc.? Boasts with insistence for your regard in Who He is (*Deut.6:4-7), won’t grant eternal presence with Him (Lk.6:46); nor will ending prayers exacting in the Name of Jesus solidify your believer-ship; instead and most important is to be known by Heaven and whereas many equate His Sovereignty with a foolish similitude in knowing any man via a name, He’s with many, because HE alone is so much more (Isa.55:8-9). Believers therefore must never present Him on limited terms, but in accordance to what’s written and surrender thereunto (cf. Ex.3:13-15).

Wednesday, December 1, 2021

Today’s Thought “Exercise Partner” G. Ward John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” We’re one month away from gymnasiums filled to capacity and rightfully so due to individuals like me, without dietary restraint during the holiday season. Encouragement through food plans and exercise can almost become as significant to the actual plan itself; but our consciences have been seared by propagandizing given from fitness gurus and diet experts who are well acquainted with gluttony in every season. Truth: One would have to consume 5100 calories at a Thanksgiving meal to gain a pound (that’s a gargantuan amount of food). A unilateral approach to the magnitude of life’s difficulties won’t compare to partnering with another whose strength in the Lord may be greater than mine own for any given moment. Therefore, I must remain intimately prepared by my Savior’s words to help embrace the calling to fulfill when another is blinded by weariness.

Tuesday, November 30, 2021

Today’s Thought “Strange Fruit” G. Ward Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. While we look to our potential in estimation of how good we are, along with wrongful evaluation that contrasts us against one morally depleted; we must first realize assessment of oneself should begin and end with the Only perfect One ( i.e. How He lived, then walk accordingly. Cf. - Ac.4:12). To rest on one's laurels translates as unholy satisfaction unto the most costly price paid for our indiscretions and whereas many remain complacent thereunto, even lacking a desire to be owned by this Gentle Savior, time will reveal their plight as entirely insufficient (*Gal.6:7).

Monday, November 29, 2021

Today’s Thought “The Sweetest Lifesaver” G. Ward Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. We’re in that season once again and whereas many strongly anticipate all the festivities indicative of joy, many won’t be so overjoyed. Troubles can be the culprit that blocks joy, along with grief of sorts. It (the opportunity for the believer), onto the dispirited must realize what’s been afforded them and share immediately. That approach can be likened to witnessing one bitten by the most venomous viper to then be the keeper of the antidote, but with refusal to share and then watch life slowly be reduced to permanent drudgery in some. Instead, we have the lifeline that won’t break and when thrown, always lands in the hands of one desiring to be rescued. Will we consider some less fortunate or hoard the love intended?

Friday, November 26, 2021

Today’s Thought “With People All Around” G. Ward John 14:1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” There’s a posture taught mankind entirely irreligious of God’s Sovereignty that says we have a right to pray all troubles away and many an excerpt from His Holy script are misused to further this fatalistic theory. While it’s important to know HIM as the Master of caring for one’s soul (1 Pe.5:6-7), the guarantee of rest for weariness never said the problem would disappear, but intros when complete surrender to HIS sufficiency becomes our insistence, that HE will absolutely carry us through it and to be held tight by the only security that matters creates testimony compelling others’ experience in the same.

Wednesday, November 24, 2021

Today’s Thought “Questioning Gluttony” G. Ward 1 Peter 4:9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. Inviting someone to the dinner table can be likened to the invitation received by God through Christ unto riches where mercy, grace, strength and peace presides without limit and whereas dinner’s invite unto one appearing voracious in appetite may witness unbecoming behavior from one invited, a believer’s remembrance to imitate their Savior is the spiritual service required that remembers their own need for the Bread of Heaven’s unending presentation similarly (*1 Cor.6:9-11).

Tuesday, November 23, 2021

Today’s Thought “Table Talk” G. Ward Psalm 119 41 May Your favor also come to me, LORD, Your salvation according to Your word; 42 So that I will have an answer for one who taunts me, For I trust in Your word. Post pandemic Thanksgiving (2021) will witness greater gathering than before and let’s not forget that the lay-off from so many of our considerations that involved inability for corporate worship with others. Moreover, this lay-off deeply impacted the number of worshipper’s return to their worship institutions, causing many to re-calculate gathering’s vitality; perhaps questioning their pocketbook’s savings while away (*1 Jn.2:19). Meanwhile, preparation unto the great gathering may permit subliminal critique and can become the necklace from some and while it appears they just desire Truth, perspective is confirmed that suggests even believers don’t have answers. May the few who know HIM prepare accordingly (1 Pe.3:15).

Today’s Thought “Lost in a Weary Land?” G. Ward Psalm 119 19 I am a stranger on the earth; do not hide Your commandments from me. The days of the compass has been replaced by G.P.S. (global positioning system) and is available on almost any electronic device and many of us are thankful for it being invented, along with a refusal to leave home without this convenience. Have we however put much thought in not making it to our proposed destination, particularly in view of unforeseen events? What then shall we do when medical prognosis are grim, or calamity/tragedy strikes? Is earth the end? Intellectual knowledge from most understands life will soon be over, even upon one’s entrance to the world, but the practicality that instructs how to live so as to inherit eternal life is commonly forsaken. Spiritual pause unto the Way, Truth and Life – Jesus, lives as our Great Compass and desires you and me know that our confession of Him as Sufficient a Leader (given by Heaven), is a beginning to a worthy pursuit (Ro.10:9, 13).

Tuesday, November 16, 2021

Today’s Thought “Antiquated?” G. Ward Hebrews 13 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever. I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold, yet I’m as familiar with my constitutional rights with an unholy equivalency? Will He provide my needs or not? These are questions for the church (i.e. believers) in view of our anticipation in hope for the world and while Jesus prayed for the world, particularly those Heaven knew would conform to the Way of the Lord (Jn.17:9), He alone would know of everyone insistent on governing themselves, ultimately rejecting Him as Lord. If expectations in grey skies clearing up presumes it’ll get better, it’s probable some have forsaken the Truth of God’s Word (cf. 1 Jn.2:15-17). Believers however, embrace His promises (and share that Truth generously), understanding afflictions are the unfortunate accompaniment in life on earth, but (*Jn.14:1-3)…

Today’s Thought “Good Intention: Not Enough” G. Ward 1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written: “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.” My yesterday involved taking even more time in confronting mine own sinfulness (as my contrast wasn’t against other’s indiscretions, but my Sinless Savior’s example). My un-intentional marginalization of God’s Word determined the activity in my selfishness must never come before His omniscience again and whereas oil is displaced by adding degreaser, I must envelope His Truth the more. My confession unto repentance didn’t share with the Almighty in general supplication with plea that said Father forgive all my sins (particularly when I’m alone in the Throne Room) but revealed my meditations one by one where refreshing would soon enter the room. While HE would clean me, then restore me onto greater spiritual health, my reciprocity would demand I reconcile every point of indifference that would involve another, potentially leading to their being dispirited and this new day welcomes HIS opportunity.

Friday, November 12, 2021

Today’s Thought “Challenge” G. Ward Acts 20 33 I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or clothes. 34 You yourselves know that these hands served my own needs and the men who were with me. 35 In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” This time of year burgeons thoughts about the needy and while needs among the less fortunate are without relent, my joy suggests that if this season strikes a pose in the lives from some concerned enough to aid, I’m thankful for their service. In a time where many desiring to fulfill their appetites observe a familiar arrival at their refrigerator/freezer filled with what they perceive as un-exciting possibilities for consideration to then take a drive unto convenient food choices. It’s therefore my challenge, that you become personally and financially involved in some organized food/clothing distribution, or homeless shelter, so the words of our Lord Jesus may saturate your hearts and grant you security in HIM, Amen.

Today’s Thought “Celebrating Duty” G. Ward Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. Eulogizing another member of our congregation on today is not easy, particularly when/if my persuasions become something to be grasped. Knowing my powerlessness apart from Holy God, it’s therefore incumbent on my greater consideration of Who’s best at comforting encouragement. That same consideration also witnesses potential sin found in me. How dare my preparation be so involved because many will hear, whereas the few given my encounters each day violates a similar preparation (cf. Gal.5:16-22)? Even so, we’re admonished “Whoever speaks is to do so as one who is speaking actual words of God…” Duty calls.

Tuesday, November 9, 2021

Today’s Thought “Red-Tipped Cane” G. Ward Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. We’re often ostracized when our “Hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.” Unwavering perspectives can render one close minded, particularly amidst a society where a liberal arts educational system more celebrates owning power, while actually with no charge over the very next moment (cf. Ps.24:1). Instead and in view of mercy flowing like a river from Heaven onto mankind, we should opt for blindness to a daily view where many pervade a disconnect unto their original intent that calls for total submission to the Only Wise Savior and HE remains a Mighty Good Leader…

Today’s Thought “She Warned Us…” G. Ward Proverbs 31 14 She is like merchant ships; She brings her food from afar. 15 And she rises while it is still night And gives food to her household, And portions to her attendants. Like many of you having had the privilege in great nurturing that enabled a receptivity furthered unto the Only governance that matters (i.e. knowing Christ as Lord), I celebrate one promoted despite a life of affliction while instrumental in authoring joy for Her family. The past year witnessed great suffering very difficult to view considering so much life once existed in this precious soul and whereas these things (i.e. sufferings) are guaranteed for the whole of mankind, we grieve, yet with hope of a promise of a final breath here and an endless one in HIS presence (*Jn.14:1-3). Our dilemma (those in earth) remains as we wait another’s demise – “yet will I trust in HIM.” It was my turn this morning. My Dear Mother (Lela Marie Bomar-Dargin) transitioned; not because she was good enough (*Ro.3:10), but because HE (alone) is…

Today’s Thought “Seizing Every Moment” G. Ward 2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death. The Word of God offends our natural position in earth, calling for change that promotes comfort and whereas every reasonable soul faces bouts in regret, our guarantee from weariness won’t rely on some kind of innate ability that enabled affliction (in the first place), but godly transformation where I’m able to hide (in His great Shelter) and my desire is to establish the spiritual pattern required to ensure troubles obliterated (cf. Ps.132:14).

Thursday, November 4, 2021

Today’s Thought “Misplaced Pity” G. Ward Matthew 26 11 For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have Me. Perhaps you’ve seen this advertised at the midnight hour and beyond; infomercials with visuals of those living in abject poverty, even up to having flies swarm all around? It certainly pulls at the heartstrings for any who’ve attained towards portions in compassion (which embraces the producer’s intent, particularly when they’re seeking pennies against the whole of our budgets) and while this certainly may be needed, we’ll forget more than 840 million humans out of 7.8 billion people (globally) are subjects to this kind of poverty. Now the question; what can we do? Great question. What did Jesus do (Mk.8:2)? He ensured they be fed. When we fail to act after viewing such lack in others, it can purport a marginalized view that subtracts from our inviting the Savior’s rule and reign over us and my living is then in vain and keeps me even poorer than the ones needing morsels of food (cf. Ac.3:19-20).

Today’s Thought “Fame without Merit” G. Ward Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. While some seek relevance, meeting approval from men, there’s a stance appearing lonely and whereas what’s written concerning the many predecessors of faith enduring doubt from their audiences also, it more unfolds an eternity whereby rest from uncertainties exists. For that reason, some proclaim Jesus as enough, desiring everyone to experience the comfort to know He’ll never forsake extending continual assurance of His presence, keeping my room full while others fail to see because spiritual lens are required (*1 Cor.2:11-14).

Today’s Thought “This and That” G. Ward Psalm 119 133 Order my steps in Thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me. 134 Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep Thy precepts. 135 Make Thy face to shine upon Thy servant; and teach me Thy statutes. Bacon and eggs please, leave out the French toast, hash browns and peach preserves this time; as any seat themselves in what is their common diner even after departing the comfort of home where the refrigerator is full of choices. Contemplation of any scenario less has become inconceivable in that “I made this money” syndrome remains the culprit block unto spiritual frugal-ness. Then idiot authors (like me) that serve up these kind of meditations soon hear from those contrite souls that immediately borrows a defensive stance, insistent of unwavering support of their church along with other benevolent organizations supporting the poor and further what’s actual – God loves the rich also. Can any however consider more periodic meetings with the Lord so as to best promote His agenda where contentment exists, or shall we go on in the chaotic, unappreciative posture where dissatisfaction presides?

Today’s Thought “Mosquito Bite” G. Ward Psalm 32 3 When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away Through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality failed as with the dry heat of summer. Selah Any with category delighting themselves in foolish suggestion of their personal sin minusculed against other’s failure to comply in righteousness (at a continuum), neglects proper approach to the Throne Room already aware of every violation and can be likened to attaining a mosquito bite and convincing yourself it doesn’t itch (cf. 1 Jn.1:6-8).

Today’s Thought “A Safe Haven” G. Ward 1 John 5:18 We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him. While discomfort is an undesired reverberation soon to visit per our insistence towards satisfying momentary pleasures (including that which promotes an easy way out or procrastination), never forget spiritual reprieve’s availability; a loving, merciful, Savior and whereas some may liken Him to be comparable to a doting Mother after her child falls to experience a boo-boo to then place a bandage over it, our Lord will hold you tight with unparalleled comfort, keeping the wound exposed so you’ll never let go (cf. Ps.51:1-4).

Today’s Thought “Hang Em High!” G. Ward 2 Corinthians 5 18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. I’ve become a real fan of great movie Westerns on television (where the good guys won). Remarkably and with unnecessary analytics, I question what made the bad guy(s) bad; particularly when the whole of the environment witnessed families (as early pioneers) exercising as agronomists and herdsman and always willing to share the fruits of their labor (?). It (i.e. perceived conditions of peace) will always be with someone dissatisfied and envious, causing mindsets great disturbance concerning that to which they don’t possess (cf. Ps.24:1). When Preacher’s preach to any the only message where true reconciliation exists, all who hear will soon understand that while they absolutely possess nothing, their Savior owns everything to which they’ve become recipients to the fruits of HIS labor (Jn.10:9-10).

Today’s Thought “Distress, Gone Away” G. Ward Luke 6:20-21 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh. Jesus’ words then were mostly perceived as readily available; for conditions in that society too were with great disparities, including tremendous oppression and our hearing (through reading) can also make the same kind of demand without interrogating what it truly means. Poor (in this case) was not relative to being impoverished, but failure to understand the riches in Christ as guidance that grants peace while suffering and hunger wasn’t longing for porridge, but craving righteousness (i.e. better sustenance). We would do well to build on that foundational Truth, for all (in their estimation) can use more, including that of a diversified menu, but grace keeps giving…

Today’s Thought “Taking It on the Chin” G. Ward Romans 12:19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Being a product of one’s environment can often be the excuse leaving some friendless; particularly when known for challenging things quite insignificant. It won’t stop there, because those so entirely knowledgeable, to feel they’re persuasive because others won’t challenge their discourse, fail to realize the one appearing to listen searched for an exit the entire time. The attitude of Christ however (*Phil.2:1-8), has become the new strand worthy to achieve for any that believe. HE, in all/every way sought bringing attention to the Father’s sufficiency and while He alone would have reason to boast, or insist on being recognized (from every naysayer who would pervade evil towards Him) as God in the flesh (Jn.1:1-5, 14), He instead taught us the essence of denial, while yet desiring the vilest of sinners’ repentance (cf. Lk.23:34).

Today’s Thought “Is There Room for Another?” G. Ward Luke 17 3 Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, 4 and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.” Even forgiveness from what perceivably is the church is conditional (and we wonder why so many lack faith)! Eyes are wandering towards another worthy in their limited estimation onto great criticism, along with rendering some hopeless and the preachers lead the way (*cf. Hos.4:4-6). Sermons are being prepared with castigations of “John Q. Public” featuring his dilemma in unreconciled sinfulness and the people are on the edge of their seats prepared to shout hooray! It’s no wonder the gospel (marginalized) competes with mindsets from many that determines church folks are the worse. Theirs can mostly look at the vilest of sinners versus deep interrogation of one’s own heart (Ps.139:23-24) and continuation thereunto that portrays this as acceptable violates confidence of being forgiven by the only Judge worthy.

Today’s Thought “Church Posture” G. Ward Galatians 5 1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Many things regarded in religion can be the ongoing production from some attributing follow-ship (without challenge) thereunto as godly order and while they perpetuate what it means to be a traditionalist, even up to not being able to tell you where the rule emanated, criticism that refuses investigation is also furthering imprudent behavior (*2 Ti.4:1-2). Truest governance won’t ever be found in another manuscript (cf. Ro.10:8) and those insistent with sharing differently violate faith’s principle.

Today’s Thought “Conjured Obstacles” G. Ward 1 Timothy 2:4 Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. While many proposed believers have not been the epitome of the Christian standard expected (Ro.3:10), it more reveals a pretentiousness from those with claimants of pursuing the Almighty (i.e. their terms along with HIS) while observing the activity in one who’s supposed to be more faithful, determining (through a horrid rationalization) why it is don’t attend worship services; when the only view for mankind’s contrast is revealed through the life of Jesus our Lord, not imperfect men.

Today’s Thought “The Knife at a Gun Fight” G. Ward Ephesians 6 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Looking out with refusal to look within delivers a view whereby the cultural pervasiveness of abominable sin diminishes all/every transgression as culprit to Jesus’ great suffering for mankind and made possible our acknowledging His sacrifice to guide us at a continuum through a daily examination of His Word and whereas the warnings are numerous, those heeding them are not, but remain FEW (cf. Matt.7:13-14)…

Today’s Thought “Common Dissent” G. Ward 2 Timothy 4: 3 “For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires.” Warnings most certainly were provided by the Savior concerning times when Truth would be rejected by many leaving few to uphold the most excellent message that grants eternality. The apostles thereafter would never concern themselves with great numbers considerate of such adherence to this gracious message, but warn in the similitude of the Savior’s teaching. Now we, the church are in the age where peril in lack to conform onto righteousness has seemingly reached a presumed culmination with expressions like “we’re living in the last days” and while every generation perhaps thought theirs was the end (as they would witness the crucifixion and great martyrdom in the apostolic age), we’re merely called to preach Truth in every season of our existential stay in this strange land…

Today’s Thought “Yelling Fire, Where There’s None” G. Ward Matthew 12:36-37 “I tell you, on the Day of Judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Those of my inner circle know me differently, compelling me to speak openly and whereas the many others witness my “being guarded” mentality can be deemed spiritual attitude disorder. I say that in view of every believer’s confession of the Lord’s reign and rule of our lives with an unmatched regard, portraying the highest, exemplary Love; whereas our insistence to be transformed (entirely) onto emulating Christ is a daily pursuit (Phil.2:1-5). More imperative to consider than a multitude of juxtaposed personality traits is allowing the Truth of God’s Word as our constraint and not another self-proposed diet whereby discipline is soon compromised because of a foolish mantra perceived that says “I can” which represents another wrongful attitude of arrogance where every prior generation of man failed thereunto (*Jn.15:5)…

Today’s Thought “Freedom Hall” G. Ward 1 Peter 2 7 This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for unbelievers, “A STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE,” 8 and, “A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this they were also appointed. There’s great presumption that all seemingly inside are safe, but faith is inextricably connected to obeying the One we refer to as Lord (my Owner) and every perspective place of worship’s visitation remains a by-product to our foundational confession of Christ as enough in absolving our sins. Therefore, assessing “who” may be included as a believer shouldn’t be the objective, instead, deep interrogation on whether my faith relies on forgiveness without obeying is searchable and if there’s doubt, fall on your knees now, believing HE placed you here among the rest of us falling short of His glory; to encourage your decision (particularly as you’ve asked Him to forgive your every sin) to transform your soul in accordance to what’s written.

Today’s Thought “When I Think of Home…” G. Ward 1 Peter 1:1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as strangers, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you. Have any awakened to what appears a wrestling match in your head? You know what is your spiritual responsibility but feel you need a lazy day? Spiritual regimen is the only cure. Holy God’s Word talks aloud to every soul desiring where real peace is found and believer’s revival will then be with exclamations of all trouble due to the land and the tent given me remains a temporary dwelling set up by the Father and whereas it was never meant to last forever and whereby inclement conditions aid in its decay, allowing my joy furthered in knowing it won’t matter soon; I rejoice in knowing there’s a home purchased for me furnished by Incorruptibility (cf. 2 Cor.5:1-5).

Monday, October 11, 2021

Today’s Thought “Pursuing Faithfulness” G. Ward 2 Timothy 4 3 The time will come when people will not listen to sound doctrine, but will follow their own desires and will collect for themselves more and more teachers who will tell them what they are itching to hear. 4 They will turn away from listening to the truth and give their attention to legends. While attending worship services remains a spiritual mandate (Heb.10:25), some will yet estimate great modules considerate of numerical growth that ultimately hinders and whereas most preachers won’t suffer with lack of self-confidence (particularly as they infuse their discourse with the only message providing Truth), it furthers a seeker’s quest to be satisfied with eloquence that delivers quickly and maintains prudence as a Sunday only mechanism. My encouragement on today is that we’d know, “Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary” (Isa.40:31).

Today’s Thought “Wasted Days…” G. Ward Psalm 30:5 “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor, a lifetime. Weeping may stay overnight, but there is joy in the morning.” Our recent bout with numerous rainy days forgets ragweed allergies are rampant in irritation for some that appreciate experiencing the rinse. Moreover it causes the farmer to rejoice in that he anticipates a bountiful autumn harvest for that vegetation soon to become a major contribution onto our holiday tables. Many moons ago children walked to school in the rain no matter how profuse and whereas we’re now with fashionable galoshes and designer rain gear of sorts, we yet complain. While weekend sunshine is on its way, witnessing expansive plans promoting happiness, did “joy” pass you by, particularly weather hindrances that forsook best contemplation of palatial shelters provided you? For any that believe in Christ’s sufficiency, gathering for the purpose of encouragement that promotes endurance won’t care about weather forecasts because joy encompasses their hearts as they anticipate eternity whereby everyday will witness the “SON” shining (cf. Ac.2:41-47).

Today’s Thought “I Wanna Be Like…” G. Ward John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. Before the crucifixion of Christ, He would pray to the Father regarding what every believer should strive for – a personal relationship with the Almighty in the same. Humanity (in a general sense) has more identified with an impression from others that can more ascribe to their thoughts (including mine) to determine what the Lord meant in all His guidance for any and while there may not be anything wrong with journeying to periodicals, commentaries and devotionals, it can formulate habit that nullifies Holy God speaking directly to me (cf. Heb.1:1-2). While I congratulate literary eloquence found in others, my personal pursuit by faith in Christ understands it too is short lived (Matt.24:35)…

Today’s Thought “God’s Jurisprudence” G. Ward Deuteronomy 32:4 The Rock! His work is perfect, for all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and just is He. To think how in the beginning the Creator desired man’s compliance unto being governed by the Only One perfect in love, mercy and guidance, to then come under a redistribution by limited knowledge found in man that translates arrogance along with sanctioning the serpent’s deception when he sought enticing those created first by asking - “Has God really said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden” (Ge.3:1b?). If we’re not careful, the same kind of arrogance (that governs without best consultation from the proper manual) exercised by institutions and leaders of sorts (particularly as we know in part) demands equity more according to conditions and bias, than understanding what’s equitable for every man is punishment and death, BUT GOD (Ro.5:8)…

Today's Thought "Exemplary!" G. Ward Hebrews 4 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things just as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need. My worship on today is attributed to the Only One worthy, along with gratefulness for setting a pace achievable for every participant in life's race and whereas the term "race" is proportionately impertinent to speed, but encompasses endurance until the end, also circumventing temptation of my return in a suggestive power within, while truly owning nothing; May my meditations regard this point of stoppage so as to alleviate potential pain (cf. Ps.1:1-3).
Today's Thought "On Injured Reserve" G. Ward Psalm 32 3 When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted away Through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality failed as with the dry heat of summer. Until 2012 (particularly in professional sports) athletes that suffered injuries disallowing their team contribution were subject to dismissal by that organization and whereas they now are allowed time for recovery to then be reactivated, is comparable to our Lord's merciful kindness to us and although our injuries are mostly self-imposed, HE remains the Captor (to every soul He provides). restoring those He loves onto greater spiritual health and reprieve's contingency remains repentance (Ac.3:19, 1 Jn.1:9).

Today’s Thought “Crumbling Infrastructure” G. Ward Isaiah 28 15 Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have made a pact. The gushing flood will not reach us when it passes by, because we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception.” Friday Eve and here in Georgia, the anticipated weekend weather forecast says sunshine and lower humidity will be. Great plans are now the consideration for so many needing reprieve from a work week so tedious and rarely will thoughts of a rigorous past weekend filled with desire of sorts be named the culprit for their exhaustive approach to employment fatigue this week (that disallowed greater productivity, but embraced what it means to be perfunctory, precluding advancement opportunity). Life’s view for our majority runs towards perceived fun and forgets the Most High supplies the oxygen…

Wednesday, September 29, 2021

Today’s Thought “City of Confusion” G. Ward Isaiah 26:3 The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You. There’s an unspoken chant altogether too familiar in our American culture that pervades, “I want it now and won’t settle for less” and the freedom allowed in the land serves as a major distraction (*1 Cor.10:23). This warrants a consistent meditative acknowledgement from believers as to who their Lord is (Matt.6:24) and when any will determine that HE alone is Sufficient, they’ll gather mind, body and soul accordingly. Peace forsaken relies on an individual pursuit that believes one can recapitulate on their own (i.e. without fellowship – cf. Heb. 10:25) and whereas the Almighty insists we’ll need it more as turbulent times persists, the many that fail to attend class (to be taught that spiritual reality) won’t be promoted.

Tuesday, September 28, 2021

Today’s Thought “A Journey Misunderstood” G. Ward Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Vocational pursuits that seeks higher status does what it takes in knowing all aspects of the job presented; understanding that failure thereunto cancels the promotion and while it appears esoteric to employment opportunity, it’s more pertinent to most everything beneficial. Moreover and while most things can be studied peripherally to then amaze others with such aptitude from one endeavoring to impress, there remains a posture (spiritually) where intellect won’t matter (1 Cor.1:27). There are some however who still try, while with great audiences and because the masses have adopted more training that identifies with credentials that substantiates status of sorts and whereas those simply deciding in their hearts to honor HIM who owns the Universe through an ongoing, daily pursuit that promotes contentment are unfortunately deemed complacent (i.e. they forego an earthly graduation for a heavenly one).

Monday, September 27, 2021

Today’s Thought “In A Weary Land” G. Ward Psalm 51:12 “Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing While personal experience testifies to periodic lapse towards spiritual prioritization over selfish consideration, I’ve never perceived the Lord as distant. I’ve understood His provision in how He allowed many examples, entirely fallible in the same to prove His merciful love towards those He created; always prepared to restore them. There is however a term I hate – “Cheap Grace” and although more exacted by those unwilling to pursue His righteous Way (i.e. His Word) through guilty pleasures of sorts, mine own appears worse because daily, personal interrogation of those directives given for mankind is where I’ve place my trust, while yet a violator (cf. Ro.7:8-12). “I came to Jesus as I am, weary, worn and sad and found in Him a resting place and HE has made me glad…”

Today’s Thought “Giving Out of Abundance” G. Ward 1 Corinthians 13 4 Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. 5 It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, 6 it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. The heavenly pardon afforded us is without category and the requirement to being received by this spiritual realm believes that Christ is entirely sufficient to forgive us through obeying His commands. Moreover, the contemplative review of each day (from any who believe) marvels on love without limits by this Wonderful Savior who knows my name and momentary attempts to render another hopeless as their contribution suffers in kind acts, may reveal I don’t deserve such Divine Love after all (cf. Jas.2:12-13).

Thursday, September 23, 2021

Today’s Thought “God’s Prerequisite” G. Ward Jeremiah 9:23-24 Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.” The Word of God demands our conformity so as to embrace the Almighty speaking to us and can be likened to the Professor’s lecture series that demands proper note-taking and whereas the test will reveal proposed attentiveness onto a failing or passing mark (cf. Jas.1:22) and while some may boast on studious behavior that landed higher marks and other’s complacency witnessed their being pleased just to have passed, the Professor failed to know either of them because both sought a grade (Eph.2:8-9), missing the vitality of information provided (cf. Matt.7:21-23).

Wednesday, September 22, 2021

Today’s Thought “Handpicked Friends” G. Ward Romans 1:14 “I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish.” Howbeit that our Lord referred to every believer as a friend while ours remain sectarian and whereas our talk of loving the whole of mankind won’t resemble the only defining that counts (Eph.5:1-2), witnesses our rationalizing and manipulation of scripture that seeks to convince Heaven (cf. Ps.139:1-4)?

Tuesday, September 21, 2021

Today’s Thought “Sudden Impact” G. Ward Isaiah 56 11 And the dogs are greedy, they are never satisfied. And they are shepherds who have no understanding; They have all turned to their own way, each one to his unjust gain, without exception. 12 “Come,” they say, “let’s get wine, and let’s drink heavily of intoxicating drink; and tomorrow will be like today, only more so.” Have you noticed ongoing political ads from every side seeking to make hatred the necklace of choice and whereas we once felt bombarded with these visuals every four years, the many caucuses having generated hundreds of millions (that keeps giving) to appear at prime moments understanding their influence over a people believing they’re strong enough to resist (cf. Jn.15:5), while hate becomes even more pervasive than ever before (?). I’m more affirmed in the song once sung, “Let Jesus lead you, all the way! All the way from earth to heaven! Let Jesus lead you, all the way! He’s a Mighty Good Leader…

Monday, September 20, 2021

Today’s Thought “Objectionable” G. Ward Acts 22:15 “For you will be a witness for him to everyone of what you have seen and heard.” Believers are called to testify to personal experience of the change afforded them by God through Christ and often have some less faithful imparting a condescending, braggadocios attitude, disallowing a hearer’s comfort enough to entertain such deliverance. This lack in humility can be worse when there’s familiarity with the fundamentalist’s indiscretions in times past having resembled the worst in society and whereas they’ve forgotten, other men have not. Instead, availability onto greater hospitality needs to be named among those knowing the Lord and unless one truly believes he’s guilty of sin, ensuring they’re no rocks to throw in his repertoire, some may hear to then become reproducers themselves.

Today’s Thought “Every Month Is Christmas” G. Ward Luke 2 15 When the angels had departed from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let’s go straight to Bethlehem, then, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” Our hearing from the Word of God compels us in the same visitation these shepherds would witness (*cf. Heb.1:1-2) and like them, unless a heavenly objective is revealed with utter clarity, it warrants proper investigation (Ac.17:11). Otherwise, we’re subject to distort truth by great presumption that re-assigns holy things presented as vessels of clay (i.e. inferior to the Potter in every way – Isa.55:8-9). Here’s proof; Christmas begun by the Greatest Presentation of Hope – Jesus, that makes Him the object of our desire will witness in another 99 days, the same spiritual actuality transcend His birth that becomes our birthday party.

Thursday, September 16, 2021

Today’s Thought “Friday Eve?” G. Ward Acts 1 7 But He said to them, “It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which the Father has set by His own authority; Renaming the day is indicative of an anticipation whereby one can be free from a rule with rigid organizational implications to which I have no charge and whereas the weekend is seemingly mine own, even presenting a spontaneity appearing beneficial, it more establishes a pattern opposite to my spiritual existence (Ac.1:8, 1 Cor.6:19-20). Disciples privileged to see Jesus desired reprieve as such (i.e. a recognition by the world vs. being known by the Savior) and those in these teachable moments were granted another day to repent (Ac.3:19) and whereas their contemplation of another day’s journey was marred by selfish ambition, it is written for our immediate compliance towards the Almighty’s reign and rule.

Today’s Thought “Spiritual Treason” G. Ward Deuteronomy 4 2 You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, so that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I am commanding you. Lord God, You’ve delivered us, having known before the foundation of the world, every particularism in our today and whereas You alone know what’s best for us and whereby error is never to be mentioned unto Your Great Name, we, Your creation exist for Your purpose, echoing Isaiah's sentiment – “Send us Lord and we’ll go.” Man was/is inspired to declare there is none like You, along with Your commands not being burdensome, so our morning mercies presented, determine that Your pursuit of us, says Love continues to be Heaven’s prompting so we ask The Most High – what shall we render to establish honor to Your Greatness? Our lesson on today understands the answer exists as we pray in every moment onto this matchless guidance provided, knowing the premise in our hearing, then doing is established by our meditations Your Holy Word provides generously. Lord God, we praise You for remaining our Great Counselor that loves gently, without relent, in Jesus we pray, Amen.

Today’s Thought “Re-Invent Yourself?” G. Ward Jeremiah 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Then also you can do good who are accustomed to do evil. Father God, our lying down on last evening seemingly allowed rest, but we will often awaken yet needing more sleep; discovering true rest begins and ends with concession to our stay under Your shelter and whereas this same awakening desires giving You praise for another day, even seeking forgiveness whereby arrogance assumed a posture of control, refusing to die to sin and self, You’ve allowed our repentance once again. Truly our Lord’s mercy is everlasting! Father, our motioning towards Your glory is marred by plans of necessity and planning ordinary to each day presented. May our every thought encompass that apart from You we can do nothing, particularly in view of our not having charge in whether a next breath will occur and whereas our stay in this strange land faces waywardness unto Your holy, righteous standard, we want to thank YOU for the only guidance that saves and grants peace found in Your Word. On today I thank You for a great access to Your merciful, kind throne room on behalf of a people determined to conform spiritually by allowing Your sole ability to change them, that usefulness would be theirs; through Jesus I pray, Amen.

Today’s Thought “Our Freedom, Our Sacrifice” G. Ward Hebrews 11 By faith he lived as a stranger in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise; 10 for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God. The antagonist would reply, “Gregory are you telling us to be nomadic by living in tents?” No, but Holy God would have our regard transfixed in knowing that no matter the land, true freedom isn’t granted from other men, nor through perceived geographical locality (*cf. Jer.29:7). Worshipper’s understanding must begin and end in faith activated; believing the Almighty remains the Owner of every land (cf. Ro.10:13) and allegiance to “God and Country” should have every man questioning personal ratio thereunto. In the spiritual realm, believer’s Thankfulness is affirmed through Heaven’s promise to be with and not to forsake us; to which I shall not be moved.

Friday, September 10, 2021

Today’s Thought “Who Can Compare…” G. Ward Isaiah 40:13-14 Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or as his counselor has instructed him? Whom did he consult for his enlightenment, and who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? My position as a pastor demands counsel unto many to which I’ve never denied one. Many years ago and because personal experience with so much seemingly granted my authoritativeness in a varied subject matter (i.e. my arrogance), I had answers. Perceivably prudent to follow are the many whims of man; but how can he know when foresight is with Heaven’s limitation (e.g. Who will be impacted by today’s action found in me? Will my decision please who I say is my Lord, or will it make for momentary happiness – unfulfilling to my future if there be one?). Holy God alone is All-Wise. He alone is Creator of Heaven and earth (including every man). He alone has purposed you to be in His earth. Counsel in every regard therefore, must begin and end unto HIM who loves you most and desires what’s best. Refusal thereunto makes me sadistically unreasonable; but thanks be to our Lord for changing hearts.

Today’s Thought “Kudos to You?” G. Ward 2 Thessalonians 1 3 We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters, as is only fitting, because your faith is increasing abundantly, and the love of each and every one of you toward one another grows ever greater. 4 As a result, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure. Remembering the words we read as authored by Holy God, we witness His commendation to the church represented in our theme for their perseverance and while we desire the same, there’s spiritual contingency that demands (particularly when Christ remains the Object of faith) non-compliance unto our pleasure, while insistent to stay under HIS holy tent. Afflictions of sorts will be imposed (even more) upon believers for their appearing foolish through total submission (un-hesitantly and unwavering) to the One and Only Wise Savior and while they (i.e. the world) insist “God gave you a brain, didn’t HE?” Our reply must be disquieted and perfectly overshadowed by Mercy, as it too waited on us (2 Pe.3:9).

Today’s Thought “Am I An Insurrectionist?” G. Ward James 1:21 ”Therefore, ridding yourselves of all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.” Whereas the workings of discord is rampant, there’s perfect governance available for any seeking reprieve that thwarts expectation from system’s management of how I think and act. Those words for my submission are not fairy-tale, but practical and worthy to impart to another needing Shelter from troubles (Matt.28:20). Moreover, the discipline it offers re-introduces my youth from its greatest Instructor, because my every approach to His magnificence never denies and most assuredly can always be found (1 Jn.1:8-9) and whereas there are times in the life He gave me suffers with bouts in regression, He keeps blessing me by transforming my soul so that future conformity thereunto remembers…

Today’s Thought “Jesus on the Holy-day” G. Ward John 19:1-3 So Pilate then took Jesus and had Him flogged. 2 And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and placed it on His head, and put a purple cloak on Him; 3 and they repeatedly came up to Him and said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and slapped Him in the face again and again. Worship with the family of God on yesterday was spirited and prayerfully has caused this day presented no less. The praise selections happened on a message that interrogated one’s enduring faith and fellowship; particularly in a world entangled in a pursuit of a party atmosphere. Very intentionally we sought to ask Holy God for nothing, while praising Him for everything, even those things oppositional whereas we gained perseverance in Him and whereas I’m thankful for this September holiday, proper reflection must pause to recall my joy was/is made possible by the Savior’s misery and whereas at any time during the many persecutions suffered (particularly in view of His innocence), HE could have declared “enough” but remained until the end because of great love for you and me (cf. Jn.17:1-12).

Today’s Thought “A Baby’s Growth” G. Ward Philippians 1:23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. If tomorrow happens, I’ll help celebrate an excellent friend as she will be 100 years old, along with one of my grandsons (who turns into an 8 year old fellow). My 100 year old friend has shared many inquiries having been made concerning how she regards dying to earth whereby her reply was most interesting when she said, “I don’t awaken each day anticipating death, but the life given me and besides when I die, my knowledge concerning that event won’t be remembered” (not necessarily word for word, but close). My grandson on the other hand just wants to know what gift he’ll receive. The growth for these two is phenomenal. Both are exposed to technological advances that introduces more learning, along with worldly actualities that includes great destruction and disunity. After their birthday festivities and particularly when more tragedy of sorts (aforementioned) is given them, frustration with lack of compliance unto the Blessed Hope (Jesus) will encompass their hearts. It’s not that they’ve been taught idealism for the world’s condition, but both of them love the Lord’s rule and reign for their lives and desire the same for everyone.

Today’s Thought “Presumptive CHOICE” G. Ward Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd, I will not be in need. Decades ago witnessed children in most households reciting this great Psalm at command, to now see it reduced to a funeral passage and as the alphabet is repetitively acknowledged throughout every educational process establishes all knowledge thereafter, spiritual rehearsal to know how remaining in the Almighty’s care is with special ordination. Celebration of an independence to guide oneself delivers dissatisfaction of sorts and can be likened to that of sheep grazing in what appears to be great pastures while truly basking in fields of poison (cf. 1 Jn.2:15-17) and only Holy God can thwart us from peril unforeseen. Perspectives from us may appear successful as they may permit occasional benefit, but there’s a quest that’s best to pursue, whereby contentment in HIS sufficiency keeps giving…

Today’s Thought “It’s My Fault…” G. Ward 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! There’s zero tolerance for a condemning Christian; particularly in view of their new found stance given by the Lord where condemnation won’t exist (Ro.8:1) and while some find it difficult exercising in this proposed absolution, a heavenly G.P.S. guidance system would have them to re-route onto viewing their own heart to realize the need for Jesus’ presence and rule being no different for them as would be for the vilest of sinners.

Today’s Thought “My Offering” G. Ward 1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.” This first king for Israel, appointed by the Almighty, was given explicit directives through Samuel to utterly destroy the Amalekites. King Saul’s estimation of how that could appear a complete conquest, was ultimate failure and cost him the kingship. All of us are with bouts in how we rationalize what life should involve, to forget we’re not owners of a next breath; even speaking authoritatively concerning those things perceivably allowable by Heaven that causes disobedience in the same as this great king (*1 Cor.6:12). Our selfish plight translates arrogance as we seek to co-pilot with the Greatest King and all our echoes that insist He’s Sufficient to govern our lives becomes a song heard, then forgotten (Ezek.30:30-33), but carefulness in the Spirit realm remembers. As we fall on our knees, may our new lives more present a readiness onto every step HE orders before it’s too late (cf. 1 Jn.1:9).

Today’s Thought “IF, A Mighty Word” G. Ward John 14:15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” Context with this passage pays attention to its prefacing that insists on recognizing the Lord while His presence remains. Claimants in knowing Him is widespread, but the truest measurement of faith asks, “Does Heaven know me” (Matt.7:21-23)? A love relationship includes a pair. Therefore and while true love exists, trust is the goal and the supremacy from this Partner calls for a humble submission from us. The daily, reasonable pursuit believers enjoy will welcome transformation from this King of Glory because they’ll soon witness that His unrelenting love for them protects their heart, indifferent from others so busy protecting themselves (cf. 2 Ti.3:2).

Today’s Thought “Mama Was Right!” G. Ward Ephesians 4:29-31 29 When you talk, don’t say anything bad. But say the good things that people need—whatever will help them grow stronger. Then what you say will be a blessing to those who hear you. 30 And don’t make the Holy Spirit sad. God gave you his Spirit as proof that you belong to him and that he will keep you safe until the day he makes you free. 31 Never be bitter, angry, or mad. Never shout angrily or say things to hurt others. Never do anything evil. Whereas many of my generation and before may not have been faithful to fellowship with other believers, they were greatly exposed to the Truth in Holy God’s Word. Many alive and with children may find themselves using the same exact jargon in the way their parents did and while we seemed to have changed our euphemistic discourse, we’ve not noticed the pervasiveness in character assassinations heightened, along with permissive (even found in every age group). How many heard, “if you’ve nothing good to say about anyone, keep your mouth closed?” To think of our exposure unto numerous Bible scholars all around, particularly as they sought sharing with insistence that to which Final Authority demands is absolutely praiseworthy! We’d all do well to heed the call (*Jas.1:22, Lk.6:46).

Today’s Thought “Three Wishes?” G. Ward Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. So many times throughout the scriptures, we’re admonished regarding Holy God’s power. It’s presented mostly as an assurance of His sufficiency to carry us through difficulties of sorts and while lack of this spiritual regard (for some) may equate such with an access synonymous with hope in winning a mega jackpot, their violation believes they can be satisfied to witness His doing great things on selfish demand (cf. Pr.1:24-29). We must never forget our predecessor’s many trials that included deficiency (i.e. hunger, disease, bondage and exile) and whereas these passages existed for them by prophets and priests, they held onto believing their Creator wouldn’t abandon those HE loves (to which includes you - *Ac.3:19).

Today’s Thought “Draw Me Nearer” G. Ward 2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. The prudent will understand another day presented as exasperating when priority unto me receives top billing and while most are practiced thereunto, an interruption is warranted. My planning is deemed permissive, but not entirely beneficial because “time” doesn’t belong to me. I must therefore submit to its Author and His authority is to be reverenced and while a common practice suggests this and that, to then demand He blesses my endeavors, causes great monotony in uncertainties to persist. Instead, “I’d rather have Jesus than…”

Today’s Thought “A Sweet Fellowship” G. Ward Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. While extreme misuse continues as God’s words are read, further interrogation therein delivers greater clarity. I say that in view of this passage in our theme admonishing believers to embrace spiritual consensus where decision making won’t carry a regretful reverberation and whereas some esteem themselves as reasonable counselors, theirs are doomed for failure (particularly when wisdom is presumed). A conscience dedicated to a pursuit that desires greater intimacy/dependence on the All-Wise Savior (including that to which mimics how He walked) that speaks volumes from the script most significant in their life. Other’s exposure to the awesome approach given them by one promoting excellence, will soon echo the same and a community develops the more, unified, not in civic resolve or self- imposed morality, but where the only Truth (Jn.14:6) exists.

Today’s Thought “Monday Quarter-Backing” G. Ward James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. My leadership over the years has witnessed many horrid reverberations as I sought making decisions for areas to which best governance was needed. The pain thereafter could have been thwarted had I pursued best counsel and whereas my heart’s desire acknowledges those decisions presumed continuity among the recipients, it often left some feeling dejected. While it’s impossible to please all people, there’s yet a responsibility in any/all forms of governance to insist on personal surrender to the All-Wise Creator of all creation and whereas it appears a guarded, defensive mechanism (i.e. self-preservation), the practice thereunto delivers greater dependence on the Holy ONE (confirming the position of the believer – Pr.3:5-6), granting peace.

Today’s Thought “God, I Have Some Information for You.” G. Ward Matthew 6:8 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” We’re so entirely bombarded with prayer concepts that beg the Almighty’s obliteration of disease and economic recovery and whereas they’re eloquently poised for our attention, have any asked why HE allows sufferings (cf. Jn.11:3-4)? Moreover, have we become so disillusioned to not remember history’s account of man with all they endured? Was their moral failures so extreme that disallowed great supplications to Holy God in the same? If you’re healed today, are you exempt from future death? If/when our adoption of prayer onto a more pervasive, common demand that’s unsanctioned by Heaven (*Matt.6:9-13) becomes our insistence, we’d be the very first generation to receive from Holy God a world void of trouble. Instead, we’re to anticipate how perseverance in Christ increases as troubles persist (Jas.1:2-4). Reverence for our Creator will trust in His eternal presence, Supremacy and wisdom to govern these times as He’s done for the many prior and not a genie in a bottle concept, prepared to grant three wishes (Isa.55:8-9)…

Today’s Thought “Forgetting Yesterday” G. Ward Colossians 3 5 Therefore, treat the parts of your earthly body as dead to sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. 6 For it is because of these things that the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them. There’s a morality scale refused by many (often without cognizance) because life’s difficulties have been too weighty for their resolve and whereas they desire escape, the code crackers (i.e. carriers of the gospel of Christ) are with spiritual lethargy in sharing the way out from misery to freedom. Have we become the beauty pageant contestant with aspirations for global peace to forget the King of reconciliation pre-arranged our reprieve, then to know that what HE’S done for us is without difficulty for the vilest of sinners also (*Matt.11:28-30)? Because HE lives, all can face tomorrow, confident of HIS loving them enough to walk according to the passages from our most excellent theme; so throw a lifeline.

Today’s Thought “Another Clubhouse Meeting” G. Ward Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. When we were children, the priority in fellowshipping was so conditional that it would soon leave another ostracized from what perceivably was fun (cf. Ac.2:44). In a word, it’s referred to as bullying and whereas generations of manipulative children existed, maturity in some adults that insist their progeny be upstanding young people (regarding everyone for their worth by the Creator) apparently remains compromised because the bully yet exists. Moreover and because we truly never grow up, our Father in Heaven wants us captive (preeminently so) to HIS Word through obedience; knowing that ideologies of sorts (seemingly captivating), maintains an exclusivity that transcends a particular “club meeting” and becomes pertinent to whether they can be received by Heaven’s standard and because those precepts prescribed won’t grant me a “higher than” status, it fails to bolster my ego and social standing. Instead, we preach Christ as enough, as the all-inclusive Savior that redeems despite our sinfulness (*Ro.5:7-8).

Today’s Thought “Needing Rest?” G. Ward Proverbs 12:25 Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad. The spirit of encouragement is losing prominence with humanity and being displaced by desire for things found in others and while this actuality may seem impossible to conquer and whereas the search for best is often met in presumption from those with similar anatomy versus where perfect admonishing remains and solely existent through the Holy One who yearns to talk with you whereby you’ll discover that His words are sweeter than the honeycomb (Ps.19:8-10).

Today’s Thought “Unmitigated Gall” G. Ward Philippians 2 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Let’s see now; there are numerous innocent residents throughout Afghanistan on today, absolutely frantic concerning lack of governance for their country as a group of insurrectionists seek control and whereas the past 4 American Presidents earnestly sought resolution, many would perish through efforts of humanitarianism. While the country of Haiti awakens to what’s a third day after an earthquake having exceeded the scale to which witnessed 250,000 lives lost and saw 300,000 people injured in 2010, awaits the victimization of the 2021 crisis. This morning’s report of Haiti’s calamity has determined 1300 deaths and many more to be either rescued from the rubble or soon to be extracted after succumbing to death. Moreover, we’ve been re-introduced to a wicked variant of Covid-19 wreaking havoc among our citizenry through perpetuations of disunity and mistrust (and while health matters have been inarguable and left to scientists in times past, we’re now in an unprecedented time where political posturing seems to be winning). We can view any/all of this in abstract with temporary compassionate statements of sorrow, along with castigation of our government’s lethargy (as we ride on the backs of donkeys and elephants), or exist spiritually and confirm the work of Christ as inclusive in every parcel of this world’s occupancy that desires salvation for those He made.

Today’s Thought “Detective for A Day” G. Ward Proverbs 14:15 “The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.” My love for the fellowship of Christ is our commitment to the Word of God that produces a common bond. That unity translates a total dependence on our Savior as Leader and transcends our gatherings, whereby consciences are seared in dedication of every endeavor to His exemplar life in earth. Many organizations of sorts anticipate the continuity modeled by our love, but must juxtapose personalities (self-seeking). It can be likened to a Teacher busy corralling energies of children; so much so that it impedes curriculum’s objective and whereas believers have been purchased by an incorruptible, sacrificial Redeemer, our insistence to be transformed by/for His purpose remains paramount. We beg for perfect spiritual reconciliation each day from those outside of this faith who feel they can have this Wonderful Savior, while still pursuant to their self-gratification, denying the contingency for truly knowing Him (*Matt.16:24-26) and whereas those same outsiders deem we’re robotic, lacking critical thinking, we’re proud to say we insist to remain in the boundary of His words as this day is presented.

Today’s Thought “Lost With Little Gas Remaining” G. Ward Psalm 81:11-12 “But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels.” He was a 25 year old Dominican that made it to the major league (a dream for most young men having grown up with little) and his assignment on an anticipated date in August 1982 as starting pitcher for the Atlanta Braves had him infuriated as he sought to find the stadium while driving on Metropolitan Atlanta’s illustrious Interstate (285). There’s one thing in great frustration in trying to ascertain directions in Atlanta (particularly from a native) and another when there’s a language barrier (as Spanish was preferred). Perez would drive the expanse of the parameter more than twice (the equivalent of 150 miles) with little gas remaining and while some would criticize his reliance on a GPS system, remember it was 1982 (we were still inserting coins at the phone booth). Inviting you to such magnificence in storyline that’s absolutely true, won’t compare to the highway portraying destruction when any refuse Holy God’s guidance by insisting on dreams exercised apart from His prompting. He alone is unmatched in wisdom and Sufficient to make the world and its contents. Is it too difficult for Him to guide your short life, considering others (from thousands of years) have endured under His Mighty Shelter (cf. *2 Cor.6:2)?

Tuesday, August 10, 2021

Today’s Thought “Holding MY Position” G. Ward 1 Samuel 15:23 “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king.” The Word of God is given man not for partial compliance and although we can witness that throughout the passages, there’s refusal to believe those same scenarios provided include me (cf. vs.22b). Was/is God so saturated with us as favorites of His to have made things so difficult in times past unto others to then bless us with grace and mercy from the Savior’s most excellent sacrificial act that the warnings of old have been nullified; or is it written for our perfect guidance (*2 Ti.3:16-17)? Our compliance now will determine our success with things in earth and beyond (and whether there is one – in a favorable location). When there’s insistence to pervade “your way” in conjunction to “The Only Way” (proven from the beginning – Jn.1:1-3), failures are imminent.

Today’s Thought “Under the Radar” G. Ward James 1:27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. Christ was/is the quintessential Advocate for man, in that He helped our helpless estate and because our confession of Him as entirely Sufficient to do so and then guide us, the building we occupy is being re-constructed for His purpose. While others have too been exemplary, even selfless, their service is generally given as a portion in life and whereas Christ embodied full surrender unto mankind (even His opposers), our compelling in imitating HIM has become the barometer for belief and everything endeavored must be weighed accordingly.

Today’s Thought “Chain of Fools” G. Ward Matthew 11 25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to infants. Participation in a funeral on yesterday, then again on today, is inevitable for all men (not so much the circumstance of pageantry, but certainty of dying). We should be discovering that the span of life is altogether short and one who is wise (i.e. in sociological proportion) plans for future retirement vigorously and is commended for fiscal priority, but lacks guarantee of a next breath, along with no control thereunto and whereas his pursuit in acclimation towards a comfortable life seems prudent, he neglected the most important mission – “where will I spend eternity” (*cf. Matt.11:28-30)?

Tuesday, August 3, 2021

Today’s Thought “Forgetting Me Not” G. Ward 1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. The term “A Work in Progress” applies here and that progression is ongoing and whereas we’re thankful as we engage how far we’ve come, we must never forget the journey was made possible by the Holy One. It was entirely His prompting that enabled this love relationship and our confession of His sufficiency to do so must remain as life’s viaduct for blessings furthered (Jn.6:44). Moreover and finally, this gratitude must be willing to never consider a regressive exchange towards castigating others to which enabled (along with necessitated) mine own spiritual reconciliation achieved as something impossible for another because of what seemingly is impracticable for their change. Absolutely nothing is too difficult for the Lord!

Today’s Thought “Your Opinions, Your Philosophies…” G. Ward Psalm 84 6 Passing through the Valley of Baca they make it a spring; The early rain also covers it with blessings. 7 They go from strength to strength, Every one of them appears before God in Zion. This great Psalm speaks to an anticipation of worship (i.e. gaining presence with Holy God). As worshippers walked the distance to their perspective place of worship, they would encounter picturesque tracts of land that lent effortless accompaniment to the joy of it all; but the valley spoken of was extremely arid (dreary) and certainly could have dampened the worshipper’s experiencing a joyful ascent to the Temple. By faith and very particularly in this New Testament era, we’re called temples of the Spirit (1 Cor.6:19-20) and conditions all around are with great moral failures, pervading great unrest with its common citizenry. Participation in the fury without absolute resolve (i.e. peace – cf. Jn.14:27) is a contribution in futility that subtracts from spiritual effectiveness, along with hindering desired presence with the Holy One (*cf. 2 Ti.2:16).

Today’s Thought “Setting Goals” G. Ward Colossians 3 Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on the things that are above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. I’m recalling my very first new car purchase with all its lengthy process (i.e. before technological advancements were commonplace – making things easier). I chose what was lesser in price although a sports model had my attention. Every dollar over a proposed budget made a difference and could have warranted a wait for Sundays to have meat. Later that afternoon, the vehicle (i.e. same showroom model) became mine own and upon finally journeying home that day, the walk inside was a long travailing as I would look back at a continuum. There was a service inspection required numerous months later and while waiting I was approached by another salesman proposing he could get me the deluxe model in a different color (and no I didn’t do it). Life is filled with moments of insatiability and whereas mankind (in every generation) has sought to extinguish the control things seen can have in their lives, only proper spiritual pursuit in Christ lends contentment. Train accordingly.

Today’s Thought “Why So Much Evil?” G. Ward Romans 9 30 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, but the righteousness that is by faith; 31 however, Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. 32 Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though they could by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone, 33 just as it is written: “BEHOLD, I AM LAYING IN ZION A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND THE ONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME.” The Apostle Paul answers what is a generational question concerning destructive tendencies found in man and why Holy God allows it; calling it unsearchable and unfathomable (11:33-34) and whereas our current demand for answers concerning epidemic discord in a nation flowing with milk and honey, let’s never forget our exilic state in the earth (no matter the land), whereby the Almighty distributes mercy on whom HE chooses. It’s therefore incumbent on us all to search our hearts and see if we’re prepared to trust HIM to absolutely lead, even when directives may not be as clear (*Ge.12:1-9)…

Today’s Thought “The Newspaper, A Thing of the Past” G. Ward Proverbs 1:1-5 The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: To know wisdom and instruction, to understand words of insight, to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity; to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth— Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance, The divide in our free society is perpetuated through a denial of personal interrogation in where truth exists. Moreover, moral decay encompasses the land because its inhabitants insist there are many ways unto truthfulness and the one crafty enough to argue (cf. Isa.5:2021 - making wrong into right) is posthumously received by the masses. Believers however, seek the best foundation and are mandated towards an intimate pursuit where the Author of wisdom lives and HE’S always prepared to guide them onto prudence revealed, inevitable and soon to become unavailable for those proponents of popularity’s demand (*Ro.2:4-8). Get on board!

Today’s Thought “Gluttonous for Punishment” G. Ward 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. Paying attention to the bully seemingly empowers him, until one shelters himself under the banner of peace; then the adversarial one moves to a distant challenge. Whereas, the bully is mostly known as this giant physical specimen (and certainly can be), it’s mostly adversity self-imposed. Our desires take us there and while the plan (spiritually) is to be governed by perfection, many times we opt for another game of roulette (i.e. hope in lack of absolutes). Instead and always available for recapitulation remains a heavenly reconciliation (1 Jn.1:9) and no matter the challenges of our daily exposure, adherence to the proven methodology of Holy God’s Word thwarts miseries.

Today’s Thought “Invite to a Sleepover” G. Ward Jude 1 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting; 23 save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh. Our daily regimen is often interrupted by news so horrific it leaves us spellbound and these points in unproductivity can last for days on end. Those in a spiritual house however, are compelled to observe the house Leader’s guidance, as He’s prepared them for such inevitable renderings the outside factions offer and whereas they’re satisfied with such a formidable Shelter found in Him as a Mighty Good Leader, His capacity insists they go out among the wolves to compel His own to come in from the cold because there’s room for more. I pray that the ones of you knowing Christ won’t wait for them to come on their own, but more identify the personal charge to keep by sharing Love (i.e. God through Christ), before it’s too late. May the weekend not be the end for some (cf. *1 Thess.4:13-18).

Today’s Thought “Inconsistency, A Bad Mantra” G. Ward 1 Corinthians 14 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted; 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets; 33 for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. Greater, contrived religion is the end product from many insistent to pervade on others a notion of being involved in worldly affairs (i.e. contemplations of both governmental reconciliation along with an obliteration in societal ills of sorts) while saying I’m entirely owned by the Wonderful Savior. So decide today; if HE is Lord, walk as He walked, talk as He talked. There’s truly only one way to be reconciled towards peace and it certainly isn’t found in worldly considerations (cf. Eph.4:26). This includes false exhortations suggestive of hope in self endeavors; as if you can do anything unless the Holy One grants a next breath and know your way is without spiritual sanction from Heaven (Jn.15:5). All these regurgitated repudiations will soon be over, then what? Just sayin…

Today’s Thought “Reconstruction of an Immovable Mountain” G. Ward Hebrews 10 26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. Many games are played differently and clarity is sought from the player when losing so as to not repeat the agony soon to be an unwelcomed accompaniment when/if I lack compliance on the next round. Faith in Christ is without variance and subject to rules that have/will govern every generation and refusal to comply is loss in tumultuous, unending, agonizing terms (cf. Ro.6:23). Don’t ever seek to re-construct what no man could do, but jump in now, as if you’ve always been a participant (*Ac.3:19, 1 Jn.1:9-10).
