Today’s Thought “A Hand In the Cookie Jar” G. Ward Acts 1:7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.” It’s suggested that dessert before dinner will ruin an appetite, but many of us via our own constructed laboratories have experimented with this theorizing far too long to understand that although somewhat actual, many forgot to share the stomach’s elasticity’s permissiveness, soon to introduce indigestion. The things of Holy God’s are similar to culinary presentation at the finest table set for us; it arrives in courses. The soup may first arrive whereby it’s served at such a temperature compelling the eater to sip so as to not burn the palate. Then the salad, revealing tasteful texture with splashes of dressing that introduces (say it just like the French would) the pièce de résistance/entrée, perfectly prepared with artistic prowess (from the Chef) with us in mind. The Almighty gives us life so we won’t burn, allowing His own to sumptuously endeavor fruits of sort from their labors, so as to present final rest therein, prepared beforehand and long ago by our Merciful Savior, Jesus. We must allow every course given to abide solely by His directives, trusting in His Omniscience, as we invite others to this wonderful supper.

Today’s Thought “Be It Resolved Today…” G. Ward Ephesians 5:1-5 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.3 But sexual immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among saints; 4 and there must be no filthiness or foolish talk, or vulgar joking, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know with certainty, that no sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, which amounts to an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. I’ve never been a gambler, but I must admit to having attended dog racing before and besides, there’s the idea of losing hard earned money so insensible. Moreover, it’s utterly captivating to witness the dogs never competing against each other, but chasing an artificial rabbit named “Ritchie.” Its comparability equals New Year resolutions and regardless of whether any participate or not, everyone complies. The ones opposed are often hilarious with their stone-faced, adamant view of its silliness to which inevitable breakage of desired regard/necessity will soon manifest and those joyfully participating find it to be a game of sorts, with an underlying wish self-discipline denies. Altogether, both violate today’s charge to correct/resolve that another year is without promise and there’s serious, urgent compelling that should adhere to the Almighty’s patience towards man’s spiritual conformity which won’t submit to earth’s calculative measurement (*2 Cor.6:1-2)…

Today’s Thought “You Really Didn’t Get Me Anything?” G. Ward 1 Peter 5:10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. Spiritual conformity won’t ever desire to leave any behind, but will posture to those receptive to the Almighty’s righteous standard, having seen what’s offered in normality and desiring higher. It most certainly is not with suggestion of being better, just desiring best and the un-equaled example of the Savior Jesus becomes his striving. Although others may soon reveal lack of altruism concerning your change and whereas ordinary found you (in times past) perplexed and bothered, having perceived they were your greatest cheerleader, in-ordinary calls you to pray for their spiritual conformity until it happens, always willing to throw a life-line without recall of their indiscretion exercised towards you and the persistence of your supplication having been made so many times unto the One who loves them best will too hear their repentance and so the family expands…

Today’s Thought “What If There’s No Chimney?” G. Ward Acts 20:35 “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Giving is mostly relative to that which extends visible substance to another so as appeasement unto another is enlarged and whereas context is often marginalized by lack of interrogating what God’s Word is really saying people run amok with their theorizing. The giving in this passage is with personal assistance (through spiritual conviction) to help instruct another towards God sufficiency, ensuring generations (after our earthly departure) won’t wait for another to substantiate one’s own calling to fulfill (i.e. sharing Truth – Jn.14:6). Don’t go broke in this season on a false premise and besides, you’ll never satisfy them.

Today’s Thought “Four More Days?” G. Ward 1 Peter 3:15 “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” Father God, our words have sought to thank You for awakening, while often still asleep. Our lack in progressively seeking assignment from Heaven’s order is the culprit. Immediate to our general recall of sin found in us and after we’ve adored You for not being like we are, the error of coming from our knees introduces greater sin, because we know spiritual success is guaranteed when we remain in the grip of grace. Our recommending Jesus, while certainly the best answer, refuses to walk alongside the weary and the amount in Word we’ve obtained won’t match our pursuit in being satisfied so that others lack guidance (even our very own). The beauty however is how patient You are with us in Your Blessed endurance towards our rebellion. Your Love expressed towards us remarkably remains, granting us now to say – Father, change us and upon this makeover, guide us for Your glory, even so that we’d never look back to ever have to recapitulate again, in Jesus Name Amen.

Today’s Thought “Praying HIS Will” G. Ward 2 Peter 3:13 “But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” Father God our view is with a subjective unrighteousness that more substantiates a worldly stance in Who You are. Our spiritual mindsets more want to adore Thee with an investigated recall that complies, by doing what Truth demands and while the mandate exists to imitate You, living holy and blameless, our superficiality, with demand to be happy, even placing ourselves above others says that on this day, to turn from our wickedness needs Your Holy restoration. More than that which tarnishes, along with those prioritized, remains Your mercy; and we this day run to the shelter You provide. May You adjust our bad thinking for every season as we have been full of diversionary appearances of these days as belonging to You, while they’re really about us. May our chants of honoring You forget our words to more identify our deeds and rejoice because of Your allowance through Christ’s Sufficiency and may we adjourn onto that cause. Father, there are so many without cognizance of Your grace and as carriers, may our calling to fulfill not substitute tangibles against the imperishable, unrelenting way Jesus our Lord is still providing, in HIS Name we pray, Amen.

Today’s Thought “When I Grow Up…” G. Ward Job 12:10 “In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.” Job wasn’t invited to the great meeting between Holy God and Satan regarding all that would occur for his life and perhaps had he the insight, fear would have encompassed his being. Instead, his great sorrow in extreme loss more desired to trust his Maker. It is written to impose upon disciples of Truth to insist spiritual adjustment be made in accordance to all that could/would be for our lives; never to lose sight of Infinite Knowledge belonging to the Almighty. Job’s wife, along with some friends agonized in watching his troubles accumulate, impetuously sharing answers comparable to what we’re exposed from acquaintances in our time and I’m convinced like Job, to wait on the Lord. How dare any formulate decision(s) without charge of a next breath? Sadly, our insistence for immediacy didn’t begin with our technological advancements (including news at an instant), but plagued Job’s era also and while hypothesis remains the necklace for man, there exists answers from the Owner of every moment worthy of proper investigation (2 Ti.3:16-17).

Today’s Thought “Medium Rare Please” G. Ward 1 Corinthians 15 36 You fool! That which you sow does not come to life unless it dies; 37 and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of something else. Answers pertaining to life can’t be found in earthly realities; so why all the searching? It’s relative to our demand for information at an instant (cf. Isa.5:20-21), which will ultimately deliver us to shame. Whereas a beef steak can be prepared on a fire (450 degrees) to then witness the beauty in its color, along with appearances of great moisture, it may soon be returned because I needed metal teeth to chew it (i.e. my terms); and so the corollary is with theological proportion that demands a qualitative study of the words from the Almighty so that what’s been prepared for me by the Savior may be satisfyingly sweet as the honeycomb (i.e. HIS way)…

Today’s Thought “Tired, But Not Finished” G. Ward Numbers 6 24 “The LORD bless you and keep you; 25 The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” For the Pastor there’s great grief upon a congregant’s departure and another day has come to celebrate a life of a young Mother of three to which our members lauded for her excellence. How then does any develop words enough that while extending comfort, also delivers a great charge to be known by Heaven? Whereas prayer does preface these events, these trials presented must rely on where endurance exists – in the Shelter of the Almighty. There are but a few hours for this grievous time and tears now will soon be wiped away from mine eyes as I perceive to be next in line, yet ready to see My King (cf. Ro.8:18). May HE be honored on today...

Today’s Thought “Growth from a Petri Dish” G. Ward Romans 16:17 “I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.” It’s assumed that certain religionists are opposed to science and whereas this proposed opposition has raised its head in a varied measurement, it more than likely stems from some mad scientist’s tampering with what basic life offers (i.e. violating original intent). The Word of God is similar. What’s been proven as the Only Life-Line has been tampered with. Bad theologians of sorts with insistence to be known among men, take up where the serpent humiliated man (*Ge.3:1-5). The modulation of what thus says the Lord, can/will empty onto eternal misery, all begun from un-sanctioned examination in presumed innocence (cf. 2 Ti.2:15).

Today’s Thought “Dinner and A Movie?” G. Ward Ecclesiastes 9:11-12 Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all. For man does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them. It was two years ago that my wife and I sought a visit with our youngest grandson (then a 4 yr. old) while in a large children’s hospital. I must admit that my experience in visitation to children’s facilities as such has been infrequent; whereas I’m very familiar with most hospital structures throughout Metro Atlanta due to ministry obligations. We were devastated in what appeared the longest walk to our grandson’s room. Without provocation our eyes wandered in each room to view medical machinery of sorts attached to young and innocent people with prognosis no different than adults. What was certainly understood to exist, was then to become permanently etched in my soul. Moreover, further interrogation from my grief status unfolded the children’s hospital morgue being equal in size to the adult facilities. Preparation for an uncertain time of departure or crisis must never be with equivalency to ordinary plans anticipated. The goal for any created by the Maker should understand the choice afforded every man BEFORE his demise; to be with Holy God forever or with Satan in utter torment (in the same) and this testimonial in affirmation is confirmed by Heaven and not because one’s name is on a church roll (Matt.7:21, Rev.21:22-27).

Today’s Thought “Opposing Factions” G. Ward 2 Corinthians 11 24 Five times I received from the Jews thirty-nine lashes. 25 Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent adrift at sea. 26 I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among false brothers; 27 I have been in labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure. Did the Apostle Paul pray No weapon formed against him would prosper (Isaiah’s prophecy yet fulfilled pertinent to the Millennial kingdom – 54:17), or did he bind Satan (a defeated foe, absolutely humiliated by the LONE work of Jesus) concerning his many sufferings? Did Paul have a mother/father/aunt or uncle praying for him concerning his safety? While sufferings occur and whereas believers are established on precepts from the Almighty, any will find perseverance/endurance in the strength the Lord provides when he’s convinced that what’s written is for his benefit and the more pervasive, false narrative from esteemed members of society, usurping/subverting Truth pale against Holy God loving you with guarantee in never leaving or forsaking you (cf. Jn.14:1-3, Ro.8:18).

Today’s Thought “Living for the Grace of God” G. Ward Philippians 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” More investigation lent to study of God’s Word, unfolds a preparation for us (believers) in knowing our proclamation of Christ may certainly offer testimony of His goodness, along with an assurance of what He’s done for me, He’ll do for you, but should not administer that same testimony with congruence thinking it’ll be a perfect accentuation to the gospel. We’ve arrived at such a regressive point whereas testimonials are more hopeful than actual. Demands from our neighbors live unto themselves, exercising false control over life. The only guarantee remains Jesus, life’s Author. We’re agents of His, to share an inheritance with the needy…

Today’s Thought “Frail, Just Like You” G. Ward James 5:16 ESV Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. The objective for the priesthood is to point others onto the Lord’s Sufficiency; giving answers from His words and while there’s no doubt on the part of believers, we struggle in rendering a varied paraphrase (unadulterated) from the original text that helps the hearer navigate themselves unto adherence. That perceived struggle forgets the Word of God warned us about the contrived spirit of man (Ge.8:21, Jer.17:9, 2 Ti.4:3). He demands answers in accordance to the moment presented, intolerant of wait. The magnitude of responsible, spiritual behavior insists our dependence remains in the grip of grace our Savior provides; therefore pray to HIM for perfect guidance that grants a spiritual result and rest. This is for me on today as I’m bombarded with other’s demand for situational ethics that won’t make sense to Heaven.

Monday, December 7, 2020

Today’s Thought “Last Words” G. Ward Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. My un-scientific evaluation says mankind more absorbs life than a preparedness for departure. Awakening each day with a “Thank God” can more reveal there may be some unfinished business of sorts; and while that truly celebrates opportunity for the day, to then get up off my knees, it can quickly be reduced to plans ordered without holy category. If we had insight as to the last moment, perfect spiritual reconciliation would/should be our insistence. Yet we more exact a denial of global proportion that says earth is home. We ought be so satisfied and assured of Holy God’s desire to receive our repentance, to then guide us onto righteousness that adheres to His holy standard thereafter. Moreover, each day presented should embrace His (Christ) return and the spiritual barometer remains personal intimacy at a constant unto the One who called you friend (Jn.15:15). The love for you from this Wonderful Savior cannot reciprocate on those terms, but can anticipate seeing Him face to face to bless His Name eternally long.

Today’s Thought “Tunnel Vision” G. Ward Jude 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting; 23 save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh. The problem with the world is really not what they do, but the believer’s misinformation concerning Final Authority’s demand that disqualifies our speculations (cf. Eph.6:12). Christ’s sacrifice as sufficient didn’t call us to persuade men to righteousness on our own volition, but by the Spirit realm. In other words HE loved them first, desiring their repentance; we’re solely agents of His in earth, less busy in assessing transgression, while sharing Truth and trusting God for the results. Believers that fail to understand the plight of man (i.e. self-governance), forget who they were before godly regeneration and while any received mercy, failed to be merciful, equals hypocrisy of the worst kind (*1 Cor.6:9-11). As Jesus is still calling sinners to Himself, He expects faithful adherence from those who call Him their Deliverer believing Heaven is with room enough for others (Lk.15:7). So, go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere…

Today’s Thought “Called to Suffer?” G. Ward Isaiah 38:1-3 In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him and said to him, “This is what the LORD says: “Set your house in order, for you are going to die and not live.” 2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, 3 and said, “Please, LORD, just remember how I have walked before You wholeheartedly and in truth, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept profusely. Don’t allow your liberal arts education seek to explain the way of the Lord, particularly when your pre-suppositional thoughts of what HE should do is the determinant. Some get cured, others don’t, some starve and others won’t. Some are granted riches and others lie in abject poverty, while others desire clean drinking water and others only drink Perrier. We’re told to pray about everything, but when the Savior taught disciples the model, we tagged it the Lord’s Prayer to which it wasn’t at all. Moreover, Jesus’ example echoed constant sentimentality of HIS will be done (echoes of implicit faith), while ours yells, “do it this way, because You said in Your Word!” I urge any to read the eternal script correctly and to know that HE saw you speed through passages indicative of those HE loved enduring great sufferings, even death, but with a home prepared by Christ where suffering of sorts would be no more. Therefore, modify every supplication in view of so many before us that lived by faith (and remember it’s substantive, but not seen) and cease to pass the baton back to our Sufficient King, particularly after HE told us to prepare “others” outside of the grip of grace to soon become recipients thereunto. There is an answer and it’s called trust (*cf. 1 Cor.15:55-57).

Today’s Thought “Will You Be One of my Girlfriends?” G. Ward Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.” Generations ago witnessed courtship between men and women blossoming into nuptials recited; whereas appeasement through open-ended promises of matrimony has now become efforts in co-habitation spiritually un-sanctioned. Holy God’s intent was that marriage would be earth’s foundation for growth, ensuring spiritual legacies throughout every generation. The violation thereunto views bouts of divorce (in equal proportion) among believers and unbelievers; indicative of vows unto the Lord as nominal and yes ladies, while men remain stupid, any consideration from other women that keeps him sowing his wild oats makes life difficult for any virtuous as these same menfolk spread their gene pool amongst many, becoming “Hollywood Daddies” (i.e. every other weekend fathers not responsible for extending daily disciplines onto their children). Would you consider a periodic hosting of a “Come to Jesus Party” (Matt.28:19)? We’re called to be conquerors over generational cursing and it won’t happen because of our complaints (which really translates COMPLICIT), but through faith in God’s ability to change those unproductive onto spiritual efficacy (like HE did for you and me).

Today’s Thought “Am I My Brother’s Keeper?” G. Ward Proverbs 19:17 “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed.” There’s a pause on today with all our shopping efforts representative of the season regarded as #Giving Tuesday. While I must admit it being new to me, the act of giving to the less fortunate isn’t. Without question, it’s certainly perfect consideration for those of us in such a prosperous land to remember any beyond our parameter with considerably less. Our Americanism has been generous more with those without, including what we deem necessary to simulate our living and the benevolence rendered concentrates on this one day event anticipated vs. a year round plan. If your church is without a global mission’s interactivity, perhaps you’ll consider online giving to UNICEF (whereby less than 3% goes to administrative costs). Moreover, if your church is without a global missions unit, perhaps the Lord is calling your name in becoming instrumental in beginning one?

Today’s Thought “Charge It!” G. Ward 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and God is faithful, so He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” Nine billion dollars was spent on this past Black Friday and today’s expectation (i.e. spending) on Cyber Monday is greater than last year and if Jesus was anything like us (Isa.55:8-9) He’d stand there confused about the season’s effort to honor Him by gifting everyone else. We’ve encountered December’s threshold to soon hear tremendous greetings in the marketplace and niceties extended one another that wishes all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to then forget acknowledgement of our neighbor thereafter. The commonality found in mankind (that is his insatiable appetite for accolades of sorts) should avoid the mistakes of times past and will soon cry out onto the only recognition that counts to then find himself permanently miserable, because the Grantor of reprieve left the room (Pr.1:24-29).

Friday, November 27, 2020

Today’s Thought “Holiday Road” G. Ward Matthew 1 17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; from David to the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the deportation to Babylon to the Messiah, fourteen generations. Oh, the spirit of Christmas cards received and Vesper Services that gathers any onto remembrance of the Savior’s entry! Then comes the excitement in the weird anticipation of a desired gift expressed to those closest to us and awakening to a lavishly decorated box of sorts holding those chocolate diamonds, exorbitantly priced video game systems and overpriced sneakers. We’re now exposed to some suggestive of not being in the Christmas spirit; translation, “I’ve spent too much on others in times past to receive very little or no reciprocity.” Moreover, they don’t even pick up the telephone to call anymore. Then the sentiment of the religious, “they took the Christ out of Christmas!” The “they” may truly be the “we” meaning those who give presents to others when it’s celebratory of Jesus’ entry for our redemption. Isn’t what has become the most self-absorbed (i.e. material) holiday that to which has been for a very long time? “Black Friday” empties onto broke Tuesday because of self-imposed forgetfulness that translates unfaithfulness and carols sung, elaborate decorations and greetings in the marketplace (unfounded in other seasons) vs. spiritual remembrance of Via Dolorosa (a processional route in the Old City of Jerusalem, Israel, believed to be the path that Jesus walked on the way to his crucifixion.) is forsaken. Can we do better (Jer.17:9)?

Thursday, November 26, 2020

Today’s Thought “Happy Thanksgiving Trump and Biden” G. Ward 1 John 5 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whoever has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. Praise is a soulful tone as one gathers under a premise of joyful experience(s) in follow-ship unto their Object of faith and when that event is owned partly by you and me (i.e. believing in personal empowerment un-sanctioned – Jn.15:5), our voices won’t reach Heaven. That’s how it is when our conversations embrace political victories and upsets (*Ro.13:1-2). It substantiates our faith in systems along with proposed dependence on Holy God (Ex.34:14). That doesn’t sound like how Jesus walked does it? We’ve had several occasions to witness Christ’s discourse at the dinner table and let’s also recall the politics in His time most certainly having disdain for His kind. Therefore, be sure to imitate the Savior's discourses; words that gather/unify. You don’t have long to prove your faith and remember every day hereafter is also thanksgiving.

Today’s Thought “Sage and Cinnamon” G. Ward James 4 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Views of automobiles lined up to receive food and pandemic monotony in the same have become commonplace and thoughts of my Dad’s forced introspection to his four children sought taking our mindsets from selfish to selfless by insisting we know of a place in the world called Timbuktu where there was food scarcity. Moreover and having grown up in the north, he would talk about the stray dogs and cats (for children this would tug at your heartstrings, particularly if you had a pet) who were left to the elements of fall and winter (emblematic of freezing temperatures). For our younger crowd, homeless hadn’t entered our common language then, as people cared for their own (Imagine that?). While many of us are with a varied food choice on this week, enjoining ourselves to thoughts of tomorrow’s delicacies, be careful with your thanksgiving concerning all you have without intentional care unto those with less (Jas. 2:14-17).

Tuesday, November 24, 2020

Today’s Thought “Heaven Knows…” G. Ward Luke 4 24 But He said, “Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown.” How gracious is our Lord in showing the way of endurance! When any are busy to demonstrate their importance in community without precedence through character and servitude, leadership is compromised. There’s a spiritual banner to uphold that may witness very few with consideration of your journey in Christ; particularly as it concerns an unrelenting reliance on His words by doing what HE says. Prayer then becomes even a greater institution for perseverance and realizes that lonely truly doesn’t mean alone (*Matt.28:20).

Monday, November 23, 2020

Today’s Thought “Conversation for the Dinner Table?” G. Ward Matthew 27 35 And when they had crucified Him, they divided His garments among themselves by casting lots. 36 And sitting down, they began to keep watch over Him there. 37 And above His head they put up the charge against Him which read, “THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.” Mark Zuckerberg (Co-Founder and CEO – Facebook) is said to have recently denied what is Jesus’ instruction to His disciples on how to pray to the Father (i.e. The Lord’s Prayer = a most improper title) from being posted on Facebook and while some are up in arms, vehemently so, very few are willing to cancel their account. Zuckerberg and others like-minded, apparently are exhausted with attempts from the religious in promulgating what has become resolve tagged as do it exactly this way or you’re hell-bound. It furthers movements like taking the Christ out of Christmas or Ten Commandments at your local government offices and making abortion a political determinant. STOP! Have you not understood what they did to our Lord (*Jn.15:20)? While our conviction is Jesus as Lord, don’t forget that others could be on their way, but rendering evil for evil can’t be named among us in the commission given believers (cf. Matt.5:16). Saying Merry Christmas won’t save people. Our day witnesses everyone going to Heaven when they die without surrender thereunto (which cannot be true). If everyone places placards with the Ten Commandments on lawns, vehicles, etc., are they living in accordance to the commands (cf. Ro.10:14)? Thirdly, while our Savior remained apolitical and teaching as our Holy Director that led us to conversion, let’s recognize we’re compelled to become new, demanding compliance in accordance to how He walked, denying frivolous relationships to then kill the baby so as to hide the indiscretion; giving back what’s been given me by the Creator of Heaven and earth to some politician to legislate against regarding this abominable practice. People need the Lord. Placards, ballots and compliance onto a few commands of God won’t win unbelievers, the gospel does and when you substitute it with defiant voices, you subvert Truth. Try making yourself available to sharing with the Zuckerberg’s, not permanently condemning them; confirming God’s Word – “mercy triumphs over judgment.”

Today’s Thought “Advice Thwarted” G. Ward Proverbs 11:14 “Where there is no guidance the people fall, but in an abundance of counselors there is victory.” What begins as an expression from another can often be uncertainty on how to feel regarding subject matter that falsely interrogates your ideas confirming their original thought and whereas both may appear logical in their stance, if it failed to echo an eternal sentiment, everyone was incorrect. Things subjective can generally empty onto more divisiveness perpetuated, but when every matter is weighed against the attitude of Christ the objective is immediate conformity whereby idiosyncrasies in others become less visible. Truly “mercy triumphs over judgment.”

Thursday, November 19, 2020

Today’s Thought “I Need a Crying Towel” G. Ward Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Without proper interrogation of God’s Truth, this appears to more consider those grievous over someone, but this actually concerns the “something” and that consideration involves being absolutely broken about my sin(s). The avenue where comfort exists is established on absolute disgust found in me that’s antithetical to the moral code I adore. When my soul abhors that wrongdoing, I’m then in immediate need for soulful reprieve and the natural disposition I have to offend is discoverable with everyone else, so I’ll need consultation with the only One who can turn this unrest into comfort and joy. True repentance searches every activity of my being, denying things unprofitable, even compromising my eternality. Godly sorrow awaits so you too can be free (cf. Ps.51:10-13)…

Wednesday, November 18, 2020

Today’s Thought “Ready for Eternity?” G. Ward Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. Implicit faith in Jesus is difficult against the world’s demand of pleasure seeking principles from so many. It’s not difficult because desire for things and conditions plague us, but we yearn for the time to which their delight matches ours; to see Christ exalted over all. Moreover, a believer’s pursuit anticipates Jesus’ return, understanding it as “any moment.” Love for Jesus is loving His creation, so our receiving the Best, wants the same for everyone; particularly in view of their destiny as self-proposed through denial of HIM as LORD (*Rev.21:5-8). Therefore, stop with your plans for a few moments and plan for eternity (as this is the most vital decision ever). You must first ask yourself have I asked HIM to be my Savior. Calling Him Lord demands you’re no longer in charge. Secondly and with great reverence close your eyes and envision the throne of mercy and ask Him to forgive you for every sin (with confidence that HE will). In order that you don’t shrink back onto mediocrity, make a call unto one of your highest regard spiritually and ask them for accountability to grow in Christ; not in how much you know about Him, but adherence to every command to do what it says. Today’s Thought “Available; Definition of a Spiritual Man” G. Ward Colossians 4:2 “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving.” So many have prayed on our behalf at times of trouble and amazing comfort happened. The folks of old practiced mindsets in gratitude through expressions forgotten, thanking the Savior for enabling passage from danger seen and unseen. Paramount to prayers from some is the Lord’s care for us, whose superiority understands our frailty (particularly when we overwhelmed by trials of sorts) by providing His Spirit to pray on our behalf. As sufferings are mentioned some 84 times in the New Testament, it may be necessary to continue a legacy provided us as we too are called to intervene for those troubled. Will you more give what you got?

Today’s Thought “Missing the Fellowship?” G. Ward Ephesians 5 19 “Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your hearts to the Lord; 20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to our God and Father; 21 and subject yourselves to one another in the fear of Christ.” Our Creator made us to be social creatures and that inherent nature to assemble should affirm our gratefulness for His eternal presence and guidance for any deciding that He is sufficiently able. Gathering with those insistent unto His omnipotence is the strengthening of faith that enables personal time’s defeat of mediocrity and while it’s amazing to have endured what now is 8 months without physical interactivity therein, yet celebrates Holy God’s omniscience from the beginning that knew technology in 2020 would lend enablement to the continuity proposed (cf. Heb.10:25). It now appears we don’t have long in what was our traditional approach to corporate worship; I’d invite you therefore to gird up your intimacy with Christ now, so as to become even more effective for that spiritual family awaiting encouragement in the same.

Today’s Thought “Categorical Misappropriating” G. Ward 1 Timothy 4:7 "Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly." If I hear one more believer mention Karma, particularly as some actual concept while its actuality identifies with reincarnation, along with an existential life that determines my future fate (*cf. Heb.9:27). It sounds like the equivalent to “reaping and sowing” but misappropriated. The Lord’s intent was to gather those potential followers unto Himself (through agricultural familiarity) focusing on sin’s consequence. Our confession of the Savior as Lord witnessed Him having absolved that dilemma for us and although our struggle in bouts with the natural disposition occurs, we’re with a way out and that access in Jesus will receive our repentance. It’s Friday the 13th and horror has plagued the land once again. It’s equated with bad luck of sorts, seemingly harmless, but it more precludes the presentation called today as limited. Instead, we know (as believers) of its invaluable moment in the redemption from the Most High provided us that celebrates each day thereunto (Ps.118:24).

Today’s Thought “This Is Jeopardy!” G. Ward Jeremiah 23:24 Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him, declares the Lord? Do I not fill heaven and the earth declares the Lord? We’re always flabbergasted to hear about the demise of entertainment moguls; enough so that it becomes a point in stoppage and most conversations circumvent the uneventful reality. The entertainment they (those deceased) provided invited our interrogating their personal lives, even marveling how similar our living is to theirs (as if they were citizens from Mars). Here’s what’s so utterly captivating; we’re overwhelmed when those wealthy with tremendous fame dies because subliminal, superficial desire violates living in accordance to existential reality and while saying we’re believers (i.e. trusting God as Provider), our faith is marred by visuals unattained. Holy God only honors the heart of one available to His Infinite Wisdom and presence. Captivation unto people and things that fade away and tarnish must cease; particularly in view of the Only One worthy of praise at watch. We invite You Lord, to change our hearts…

Today’s Thought “Waste Management” G. Ward Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” I’ve noted more litter throughout our municipalities than ever before although trash receptacles may be in reach and remembering when some of us were children, burning elements of your weekly trash was required. Moreover, glass receptacles of sorts was commonplace, requiring pre-paid deposit along with trading old receptacles for new; giving way unto today’s recycling plan. Our ever-evolving society demands convenience at the expense of future citizen’s air and water. Without premeditation our insistence for building, removes trees (responsible for our oxygen) from varied tracts of land to never consider circumventing the structure intended. Furthermore, we’ve maligned good health for everyone in that same vein (convenience over thoughtful consumerism), whereby disease relative to breathing has increased (with age transcendence). Altogether, our sins must cease a contrast with the vilest offenders, particularly when our bad contribution in ecological terms have become responsible in murderous proportion. Faith is difficult.

Today’s Thought “Palliative Care” G. Ward John 15:19 “If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.” Did Peter share how governmental support to believer’s cause would aid their promulgations of Christ sufficiency, or was the account of Jesus’ love for them, even up to giving His life for them enough (*cf. Ac.2:22-38)? When three thousand souls were added to the church on that day, their success thereafter rested in the Almighty, embracing fundamental teaching from the Apostles on spiritual duty. While Jesus walked the earth, He too mandated a proper scope for any followers of Himself; that they would maintain an obligatory obedience unto government without merger (Matt.22:21). Howbeit that we’ve now allowed a diluted message of hope to define the church? As if contention for our gatherings weren’t enough, we now are known for our politics, even hiding behind a few mandates of Jesus without being hidden by all HE said. The expansion of the church is marginalized through the many persuasions given against truest reconciliation and now believer-ship (presumed) has become more divisive by pervading politics along with the Savior, even up to sermons urging congregants to vote in accordance to their values as if there exists an inherent morality they’ve composed. THE GOSPEL STANDS ALONE, even WITHOUT societal measurement and echoes of prosperity. Eternality promised man should never discredit Life (Jn.14:6) via a false permeation of societal hope ever-evolving…

Today’s Thought “Blindly Striking A Match to My Own House” G. Ward Obadiah 1 3 The arrogance of your heart has deceived you, The one who lives in the clefts of the rock, On the height of his dwelling place, Who says in his heart, ‘Who will bring me down to earth? Our war is said not to be against flesh, but the evil spirit that dwells within earth’s realm and only those spiritually sold out see it (1 Cor.2:14). Whereas nations have warred against one another throughout every generation, rarely are those keenly aware of the presentation of arms existentially, along with the horrid reverberation thereafter. Many familiar with religious wars that Holy God imposed seek presupposition concerning their participation in the same and whereas conflict is first established as indifference it germinates blatant hatred. May this nation realize the time to get this right is at hand, but will soon become permanent divide.

Today’s Thought “Fight, In This Way” G. Ward 1 Timothy 2:1-4 First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made in behalf of all people, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. All of our angst, vitriol and frustrations exist because of an inability to either persuade men unto conditions and attitude reflective of our own, or blatant hatred. Moreover, while any critique certain institutions, their failure to realize they too are on the sphere of scrutiny in the same by another self-appointed pundit critical of personal views from them. This madness violates tranquility. Every man is part of God’s creation and His desire is perfect reconciliation in Christ thereunto. Believers are spiritual agents of this reconciliation and the magnitude therein is altogether too huge without supplication unto the Almighty concerning those frustrated and dispirited (cf. Eph.6:12). If/when our prayers remain continuous, even concerning the worst violators of righteousness, their subservience to the Most High may be imminent.

Today’s Thought “A Vote for Jesus” G. Ward Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the LORD has made; Let’s rejoice and be glad in it. Do you think Heaven is on pins and needles, with cable news on awaiting election results? Better question, is God all knowing? Is governmental authority existent without God’s ordination? Does HE cause everything to exist even orchestrating sufferings? You’ve voted your conscious, along with that which matches your value system and both choose one or two perceivably major issues concerning them, while everyone trusts in Washington over the Lord’s demand. Consciousness ought be dedicated to the Lord’s sufficiency and a value system lauding adherence to one or two transgressions found in the other side purport modern day Pharisaism (self-righteous or hypocritical - *Ro.3:10,23). None know Holy God through follow-ship of a few things and then relegating spiritual responsibility unto government for solutions. True believers just trust, rejoicing in their redemption and sharing with those unconscious of the Lord loving them, preparing the Way, so peace would be theirs also.

Today’s Thought “When I Grow Up…” G.Ward Job 2 9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold firm your integrity? Curse God and die!” 10 But he said to her, “You are speaking as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we actually accept good from God but not accept adversity?” Despite all this, Job did not sin with his lips. The greatest recognition from the Almighty regarding His created one unto the Accuser was, “Have you considered My servant Job (1:8-12)?” While viewing this in abstract, we preclude our faith cannot capitulate to such, even cancelling pursuit thereunto. It’s given us that Heaven’s consideration would echo a similar sentiment. How dare any become so impressed with something entirely attainable from the least to the greatest? When being awe struck onto a witness in earth’s highest regard (*To be KNOWN by Heaven) occurs, speculation enters the room and hinders spiritual integrity and collapse when trials of sorts happen will soon rule out good judgment (*cf. Jas.1:2-4).

Monday, November 2, 2020

Today’s Thought “Caesar or Nero?” G. Ward 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from every form of evil. Civic mindedness was once commendable an exercise to portray but now has posturing in presumed righteousness. One side insists their governance is best, while the others says theirs is more relative and caring. Seemingly inarguable, both sides govern according to the best of their ability and history demands it’s never been good enough (Judg.21:25). The democratic process hasn’t always been available to all its citizenry and while the foundation pervaded on a segment of people embraced national documents by saying “All” were included, many groups were not (*inclusive of my lifetime). The marginalization therein was imposed on generations thereafter enabling both dissention and discord (cf. Gal.5:16-21). We’ve now emptied onto choice and the actuality of option loves particular characteristics of their partisan selection; but each (of the two major parties) have segments of evil and I as a believer have been called to absolutely NOT chose the lesser of two evils, but to never consider participating, period (Faith is difficult.). The banners raised in futile speculation that says we’re on Jesus’ side because of the perpetuation in blatant murderous acts, while the others yell we care for the “less than” by offering equal opportunity through attainment of social services extended indiscriminately, forgets that the Savior opted for the Creator’s governance without waver.

Today’s Thought “Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah?” G. Ward Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Grim medical prognosis, great calamity due to storms of sorts and my dog ran away syndrome most always warrants appeals of reprieve from many with pre-suppositional thinking that the Most High desires absolutely no sufferings for those He loves to forget His imputation of sins unto Christ for our benefit. Are you prepared for His decision in the upcoming election? Did you forget He chose George Washington and those thereafter? Are you busy seeking to understand why? When that pursuit (questioning His rule) overrides trust, regardless, it proves lack of foundation of His will found solely in the Word of God. After the fallen-ness of man happened (Ge. 3), strife became the necklace for all and that same can be a leash whereby the world yanks your chain, or spiritual ownership onto the Almighty can allow His yoke as easy and burden as light…

Today’s Thought “Snake In the Grass” G. Ward Psalm 95 6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. 7 For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. The temple to which you belong is a sacred institution generally associated with reverence beyond the scope of other places you frequent. A best suit is worn indicative of the greatest presentation, never showy, just exemplary. Talk (i.e. every word being weighed) is immediately modified to represent respectability of locality and a gentle spirit is conveyed via by a subtle smile while there. The altruism in faith for the believer undergirds transformation given by their Maker; HE alters them onto a new status as an actual temple of the Spirit, called out in EVERY regard to model the essence of worship belonging (esoterically) to Holy God. We shall not be contained by structure, but display structure incorruptible.

Today’s Thought “Innocently Tagged” G. Ward Galatians 3 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Self-characterization or the same from others (particularly as it concerns lumping together those of physical similarity) is useless without Heaven’s approval. The objective for any that believe is to undergird spiritual transformation, so as promote Holy God’s character. The social construct of race is also without benefit and has become an identifier of humankind perpetuating divisiveness. Recently, political grandstanding perpetuated a separatist ideology that said in general terms Black folk need to either get on board with a political posturing offered from a partisan group and furthered that they want more for the Black community than Blacks want for themselves. No ethnic group is with a monolithic (uniformity without variance) approach even though that same group may identify themselves within the parameter of a partisanship. There are many ways to incur economic success and national security of sorts. Moreover, every ethnic group is varied in rich and poor, productive and unproductive, etc., so addressing any in general terms is arrogant/ignorant. God never highlighted groups for their ethnicity but did for their availability to His commands and usefulness thereunto. The way of the cross provided anyone’s confession of Jesus as Lord without barrier. The only opinion that matters is the Creator of Heaven and earth. His preparation for us with a perfect home adds more victory and our arrival there promises a continuity in the Spirit realm, needful for practice right now.

Today’s Thought “Half In, Half Out” G. Ward 2 Peter 2:20-22 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.” Our hunger for Truth is likened to the most disgusting act a dog embodies after vomiting when we’re faced with directives from God’s living Word and immediately thereafter subverting its authority through reliance on vain philosophy (because it’s commonly perceived among the masses); whereas the truest position in righteousness remains an ongoing pursuit in intimacy with Holy God that trusts in His sole guidance to never sanction outside perspectives and opinions. No matter what the people say, my participation in the gospel will find solace in following the perfect nourishment of HIS words vs. regurgitated attempts in temporal pleasures…

Today’s Thought “Election Results” G. Ward 1 Thessalonians 4 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. Election in theology is merely God choosing to bring individuals to salvation through Jesus Christ and this sovereign process didn’t rely on your arrival with all your spiritual practicality, but again, was HIS choice (*Eph.1:4-6). Election, the political thing eight days from now has unfortunately become the larger means to national resolution, even with declarations from both partisan sides mandating their candidate is the “chosen one” and he is (*Ro.13:1); but not because they went to the polls (Get it?). The spirit of readiness cannot continue as it’s been to see God (*cf. Hos.1:2)…

Today’s Thought “Grief Dichotomized” G. Ward John 11:35 “Jesus Wept…” The Prophet Isaiah recorded He was “a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.” Insight of future events, along with denial from men would certainly drive ordinary humans into clinical depression, but this Jesus, the Overcomer, demonstrated an unwavering reliance on His Father. He would soon raise His friend Lazarus to life, so His tears had to have been for others who would view this as something more astounding to behold vs. life in HIM. What we see, taste and touch has become the giant in a small room and until that something is met, penetration of greater is marginalized and while implicit faith truly is difficult, there is no gathering unto Holy God through Christ when others are with expectancy of blessings outside of Genesis to Revelation and tears remain incessant even for the believer on behalf of those un-surrendered unto this great cause (cf. Eph.5:1-2).

Today’s Thought “Thursday Special at the Local Café” G. Ward Ezekiel 3:1-3 Then He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” 2 So I opened my mouth, and He fed me this scroll. 3 He said to me, “Son of man, feed your stomach and fill your body with this scroll which I am giving you.” Then I ate it, and it was sweet as honey in my mouth. A few generations ago witnessed families taking meals at their homes, in that restaurants were far too costly to consider and besides dining out didn’t offer the choices of today. Townspeople were generally exposed to local diners or the dime store café and even their food mimicked home cooking, but change of environment fooled our palates. We as believers are contained in the surety of the temple provided us (1 Cor. 6:19) and no matter the meal served, ours craves every word prepared for us without consideration of supping elsewhere. Moreover, any mixture indifferent from the King’s table is poisonous. No preservatives please, just pure food…

Wednesday, October 21, 2020

Today’s thought “Spiritual Suicide” G. Ward Proverbs 28:13 Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. We’ve perhaps viewed either a television series or movie whereby a villain’s diligence haunts a victim in such proportion so as to capsize their good thinking onto fear that won’t relent. The victim will then need someone caring to walk alongside of them to ensure their nemesis is on his way to collapse. Moreover there’s assurance from the consoler of their presence until this horrid actuality subsides. If the victim rejects any notion of being safe although help is vividly perceived, the perpetrator wins. The Lord, more than any advocate receives all our anxieties (1 Pe.5:7), desirous of our freedom from various trappings that render us unproductive and while your prayers are generous concerning other’s welfare, consider unlimited supplication on your behalf where refreshing exists. He’s the shelter from every storm…

Today’s Thought “The Definition of Cyclical” G. Ward James 1:27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. Our national pursuit is without echoes of unity because each maintain a cause indifferent from that which protects those with little to no voice amidst a robust society. Some would argue their platform seeks to persuade others onto a progressive consciousness that protects future generations from a varied depletion, to which another side introduces a variant with an opposing cure. We’ll then witness considerations in chaos that keeps us at this horrid food fight. It’s no wonder Jesus’ resolve to government was paying His taxes while insisting that any followers of the Lord exalt Holy God because He orchestrates life (even sufferings- Ro.8:28) given man for His own purpose. Getting busier in thwarting His purpose denies eternal satisfaction with Him and insisting all you’re doing extends glory and honor to His Name sounds good to us, but He knows…

Monday, October 19, 2020

Today’s Thought “Gentle Giant in the Room” G. Ward Matthew 5:1-5 Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. How others assess your character can often be misleading in that less conspicuous can appear arrogant. Whereas the believer’s calling should always guard their sacred trust of the Savior through denial of perspectives that divide, he’s also to portray his Redeemer as the Only worthy of every man’s highest affection. Seemingly difficult to juxtapose (i.e. establishing a practice of total obscurity while exalting Christ with every step) remains the safeguard for peace. As you pursue righteousness, remember it’s obtained through broken-ness (being remorseful over sin) that desires to cower away from bouts in futility while confidently proclaiming He’s my All in all and my eyes adore His resolve.

Today’s Thought “Nine Months Ago…” G. Ward Exodus 15:26 He said, "If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you." The pandemic to which we’re exposed may or may not be with this kind of similitude. Let’s however act quickly regarding the “may” of this actuality. While some even after 1.1 million globally, along with 218,000 Americans have died, we’re witnessing great apathy among earth’s citizenry. America the free is yet arguing still over the origin of this disease and some doubt its spread, while families everywhere are grieving yet. Let’s see now; insensitivity, reckless abandonment of truth and purports of discord, are any of those descriptive of inheriting anything godly? Very little Bible scholarship is necessary in saying “NO” unequivocally!! Many will soon understand every tongue’s confession of the LORD, but with the same equivalency of Israel then travailing through the wilderness then to violate seeing a “Promised Land.” Our weary land now is only celebratory in great boundary proportion with great chants of arrogant acclamation in being leader of the free world; forgetting “to much given, much is required.”

Thursday, October 15, 2020

Today’s Thought “If This World Were Mine” G. Ward Matthew 7:3-5 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. The greatest philosopher that ever lived is often you and I and just when we think our resolute ideologies are set in stone, more vanity suggests an addendum be added. Perhaps you call it being analytical? I call it petty. More than what appears as actual for our view is an expression from other’s conveyance of personal code adopted and inasmuch as living a life surrendered to Christ is a “one voice” messaging, the carrier’s variants are diverse. Pay more attention to that which can unify and while doing so you may find yourself on Peace Avenue that intersects with Joy Rd. This in no way precludes an inability to assist a life dedicated in Christ vividly exhibiting points of slippage that ruins shouldn’t be mercifully admonished onto a best regard, but it does mean your advice record must be that to which no struggle exists therein.

Today’s Thought “Wrecking Ball” G. Ward 1 Timothy 1:16 Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. Whereas perception may regard unrighteous things not worthy to consider, rarely are there contemplations of my re-inventing another moral code. Diversion onto foolish critique of such societal permissiveness is often preferred, inviting visuals distant from my perspective that represents order (perceivably) and these observances are so frequent that my view renders them ineffective and unproductive. The practice of such is arrogant and as Holy God is the Only One able to view usefulness from the inside/out, our spiritual determination must conform immediately (Phil.2:5) if we’re to be regarded as His. The difficulty of ascertaining societal unity is exacerbated through lack of spiritual assessment entirely personal and while the vilest of offenders appear worse, it’s really me standing in need…

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

Today’s Thought “Support Systems” G. Ward Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Without any notice bridal coordinators are without work and dress shops (in the same) no longer are in business and the few existent are with appointment only status. Jewelry stores highlight chocolate diamonds and tennis/charm bracelets, whereas solitaires are more pertinent to upgrades than (wedding) engagements. Love, although known as Who God is (1 Jn.4:8) has now been reduced to great tolerance very distant than the original intent that allowed our presence and Final Authority’s incessant commands regarding marriage are clear. Marriage continues as the foundation for societal order. Questions as to why civic unrest, widespread disease, global unrest and family dissolution rests in God’s Truth (*Ro.1:18-21) and we exacerbate the wrath from the Almighty when we run to false reconciliation. Shelter is only found in Jesus!

Monday, October 12, 2020

Today’s Thought “Blinded by the Light” G. Ward Hebrews 4 16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. The glamour of worship that includes prepared speeches of poetic proportion along with liturgical responses from audiences (confirming belief of Who is said to be the Object of their faith) and concert hall singing (imaginatively with equivalency of angelic voices ushering humanity into the heavenlies) and instrumentalists comparable to big band entertainers has become the expectation that seemingly offers reprieve from all evil. There however is the simplicity with insistence to more portray obtaining redemption from the only Savior and regardless of the noise all around, the affirmative response craves to be known by Heaven, rejoicing (personally) thereafter.

Today’s Thought “Living Inside Myself” G. Ward 1 Corinthians 6 12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. Here’s a stanza from one of the greatest hymns in faith; Grace, grace, God's grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within Grace, grace, God's grace Grace that is greater than all our sin! The joy in knowing our Savior paid sin’s penalty is the contemplative review while this is sung by the believer and those same practitioners of intimacy with Christ are with refusal to pervert/subvert the gospel’s intent. Like in Corinth however, there are more who sing it with a licentiousness that pervades on many an idea of un-substantiated permissiveness from Holy God that commits sin knowing of such grace, assuming coverage thereafter. May ours be sincerely observant of true freedom’s way while with opportunity (Ac.3:19).

Today’s Thought “Acknowledgement of A Great Divide” G. Ward Proverbs 19:11 Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense. In a spiritual sense, looking towards a future won’t include the uncertainty of life in earth that anticipates a predominant culture of peace and unity whereby history never witnessed such (particularly apart from Holy God submission), but more embraces the actuality in being called God’s own and that blessed assurance produces calmness and contentment (even while in a chaotic world) as true believers await Heaven when every trouble will cease.

Wednesday, October 7, 2020

Today’s Thought “Birds of A Feather…” G. Ward Luke 15:7 “I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” Truth challenges any reasonable onto activity to then be grateful for the information received and while others demand further proof, Heaven may not wait and whereas frailty remains the truest identifier for the whole of mankind, the few willing to confess it are generally not the upper echelon in society and those prestigious can more consider a personal, sovereign sufficiency and the quest for regard in earth will soon end.

Tuesday, October 6, 2020

Today’s Thought “The Power of Persuasion” G. Ward Isaiah 5:20-21 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! Messy Israel then, with its many divisions in perceived morality has become the discombobulated national focus of today and while the world yet regards us as a settlement desired in residency and whereas the inevitable implosive-ness of such divide includes a tag of “United” the banner of its citizenry is with myriads of flags that ultimately means nothing (Ac.3:19)!

Monday, October 5, 2020

Today’s Thought “Mine Own Hospital Stay” G. Ward James 2 3 And you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, “You sit here in a good place,” and you say to the poor man, “You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool,” 4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives? A democratic society is most certainly preferred among its citizenry; allowing choice, particularly pleasing to personal endeavor. The small faction of believer-ship prefers/insists they live in a free society, abiding in its legal parameter while higher adherence to theocratic rule remains their source of joy and our reasonable approach to it all understands that every citizen is with a common denominator in needing Jesus.

Today’s Thought “Discord While Praising?” G. Ward Psalm 95:1-3 O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. 3 For the LORD is a great God And a great King above all gods How can any suggestive in knowing the Almighty rejoice in the sufferings others incur? For believers, periodic assessment of surrender onto Christ’s rule (Ps.139:23-24) most certainly observes how well one matches compassion and mercy the Savior exemplified. The “One Faith” of Ephesians’ expression yields entirely to a transformative methodology through hope given that reaches beyond earthen divisiveness and biases – to which I rejoice in my Savior having completed His work indiscriminately and whereas today has been presented in what ought be praise, not so I can soak up what perceivably is His abundance towards me (i.e. social, economic and political permissiveness), it’s absolute recall of the redemption provided me through sharing where LOVE emanates.

Today’s Thought “God, Did YOU Hear Us?” G. Ward Jeremiah 32:17 Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. Father God, we’ve depended on every other source to supply our happiness and prosperity; while YOU remained patient with us concerning our welfare. We’ve read Your judgments against the nation You loved with their blatant conformity unto unjust ways from a worldly standard that included a self-righteous indignation that assumed sufferings of sorts weren’t to exist. We’ve regarded this strange land to which we live as superior with Your name stamped on its people along with placards indicating You as Owner and that pomposity never invited the whole of mankind to where Truth only existed, that is The Almighty as their refuge and strength, demanding they not ever turn from knowing, then exercising therein. Our guilt is obscured by the measures given others while in this land flowing with milk and honey and while in that assessment we strive against the wind, we never knelt to notice You were at watch, being the Only ONE who knew our selfish motives only sought to celebrate You in presumed victories without regard to Your imposing judgments. While the few of us who truly love Your righteousness exist in this strange land, we ask Your will be done through us to convey that Holy Standard to any who will listen before it’s too late. In the Name truly ABOVE every name – JESUS, Amen.

Today’s Thought “HE Keeps Blessing Me” G. Ward Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Many are subject to earthly instruction with a similitude in watching a television series and when/if one isn’t familiar with the initial program it may discourage ongoing viewership; the channel turns until a program desired is with a concise presentation worthy of entertainment. A teacher’s comparability can be the equivalent of a television series and if their production deviates from the central theme, there’s lost-ness in the course study and students will drop the class. In the Spirit realm, teachers of Truth must promote teaching whereby students are sufficiently supplied with the avenue (i.e. dependence) towards highest instruction and that school is open 24/7.

Today’s Thought “This Ole Vicious World” G. Ward Ephesians 4 15 But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. After the pandemic, what happens to the local assembly? Spiritual institutions are closing their locations currently at an alarming rate. Their financial status has greatly suffered and had their supplications answered truly invited God’s opinion as to whether the initial endeavor to build emanated from His Throne or perceived godliness has become evident. Those of us who’ve placed top priority in remaining in touch through virtual means (even daily so) are also without a boast and it too is with diminishing effect also. Congregants, some faithful and others deeply desirous await a time when we’ll be able to convene together again, even to think that will most certainly be the catalyst for change. When altruism onto precepts from the Holy One is neglected, the essential element of trust in HIM who is loving mankind is forsaken by the plans of man that gathers other men unto good gathering that resembles greater religion and that foundation is soon to collapse. When love for the Almighty’s insistence is precedent, true growth is imminent, then lasting and even others are anchored therein.

Today’s Thought “This Is Jeopardy!” G. Ward Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Won’t this passage also insist I’m depleted of ability without HIS sanctioning appropriated steps in Him (Jn.15:5)? Context is imperative here. The Apostle’s journey in service to Holy God was the subject and the churches he serviced neglected to support him so as to promote this gospel to others throughout those travels. His boast rested in the sufficiency of the Lord although the Philippians’ offerings reached him in due time to which he was grateful (1:3-5). As I tire in hearing selfish plights of empowerment, my indignation maintains my calling to fulfill and as a teacher of HIS, I must first realize that I too was once part owner of spiritual injustice that now begs for pardon to be useful in HIS today (Ps.118:24).

Today’s Thought “On Lock Down” G. Ward Psalm 40 I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD. Perceived points in righteousness doesn’t govern the move of God. A society regarded for its existence as free, “endowed by their Creator” forgets spiritual contingency demanding implicit allegiance of the ONE who matters both now and eternity long (i.e. freedom may not be free). You and I must never think we have to awaken His Holiness to earthly dilemma, but more embody faith through obedience regardless of troubled times or peace. The vanity from man is exacerbated when denial of discipleship is forsaken and he becomes his own king. Inevitably this stance from personal pursuit will be given over to demise through despair and will recall times of warning whereby frivolity ruled (*Lk.16:25-31). Surrender now!

Today’s Thought “If Breonna Was Your Daughter?” G. Ward Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Whereas the arguments persist in what now has become perhaps the least empathetic society in America’s existence is blatant refusal from some to identify their biases seeking a sensationalistic narrative driven from media proportions versus the peaceable construct of Jesus, I as a believer am compelled to receive my news from the Kingdom of Heaven’s regard, not some preferred news network (this concerns both sides). In the sixties my brother and I were riding our bikes somewhat out of our immediate zone (to which was done often without incidence) to arrive on protest from Pro-Lifers at an abortion clinic. Our intrigue was obvious, inviting one of the protester’s explanation of what the focus was. We too were abhorrent to think anyone could consider such a heinous reality in killing babies. The songs sung as the march prevailed became quickly recognizable. That great age of protest utilized same songs with similar lyrical content although slight exchange in wording. Never did we think upon being the only Black young men of that protest danger could be imminent. Our Dad who happened to drive by, quickly admonished us to “get home!” Although our parents were militant regarding the time where Black people were with far less regard (even the north where I stemmed from), they knew some purported violence onto even those protesting without provocation. We now are witnesses to segmented proponents of second amendment rights without consideration of first amendment advocacy. Both liberals and conservatives are hunters and gun toting; but media dispensationalists’ demand that liberals want to take your guns; even up to gun sales being unusually higher at the time Obama was elected because he definitely would take your guns. The divisive government we love now exacerbate a monolithic embrace that demand we know Black people are on the end of disorder. Our families too include police, military, bad characters and civil minded ones also. We now have adopted the term “Peaceable Protest” to differentiate that of sanctioned (i.e. 1st amendment - the right of the people peaceably to assemble) vs. the buffoonery from a few (looting, throwing objects at officers, etc.). The many that never had to protest for American rights along with great disproportionate statistics impacting Black and Brown people may lack empathy regarding some who feel it necessary. When a famous football star took a knee, particularly after continuity with a friend who was a Navy Seal agreed to protest lack of equality for Blacks, the narrative was quickly changed by demanding he be recognized as disrespecting our Flag and Military. Many still HATE him for his stance just as they did the Negro Olympic track participants of 1968 and Muhammed Ali for refusal in the Vietnam War. Now many celebrate the decision to not prosecute officers in Louisville for participating in an unjust shoot out and killing of Breonna Taylor. One side demands prosecution and strong reform. Another says “defund the police” (i.e. Police Athletic Leagues for children and youth, Mental Illness Training, vs, purchasing, then stockpiling assault style weaponry, etc.) and that narrative also believes they’re saying take away funding (entirely) from officers; when the actuality of that means to invest more in community policing forsaking purchase of technological equipment considerate of potential communal anarchy. Here’s what the reasonable should understand: A young lady innocent of any crime had her house invaded by those instrumental at serving and protecting her, having listened to an order through hierarchal command that researched enough concerning Breonna to know she had nothing to do with her boyfriend from 2 years prior, guilty of illegal drug trading. The “No Knock Warrant” sought to find drug evidence in this apartment clearly registered in her name. Why couldn’t this decision to search that apartment happen at a reasonable hour that would include two or three officers at best? That level of questioning only occurs when empathizing recognizes that I could have a 26 year old daughter in the same and could have ongoing grief in earth as Breonna’s Mother does. Instead, some would rather rejoice because a few police officers won (seemingly). Those officers had a job to do. I would like to think my position would have declined, particularly if I knew of such innocence prior to the warrant. I more fault the investigators, those in a higher capacity than the standard beat cop. Why such force (including twenty shots rendered, whereby 5 hit Breonna) for such an investigation? In retrospect, could more have been done to de-escalate this from going haywire? How about the same line of questions concerning the George Floyd case, etc.? That’s now become the elephant in the room of avoidance for a small faction and while they’re insistent that if you’re law abiding you have nothing to fear, I wonder how many of them were given the talk concerning warning against those bad apples of America’s Barrel that insists all have an unalienable right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, while at the same time denying that great standard unto many of us yet living that witnessed certain legislation to say so (cf. 1954 Brown v. Bd. Of Edu. Of Topeka, along with the 1964 Civil Rights Act)? Legislation won’t ever change the heart of mankind; only the gospel has that Transforming Power! You and I cannot foresee by faith things becoming better in earth because of our certain religious affiliation, lengthy prayers, political affiliation, nor protest. Peace is only found in Jesus! The work sanctioned by the King of Every king taught while insisting we follow the best guideline – to be contained by HIS sacrifice for any who will call HIM LORD, compelling the absolute worst in society to know of His loving them also is the truest parameter. Yours and mine own perspective means nothing – “His thoughts are not ours…” We get what we have because our lack in adherence to what is written and there’s mixture (entirely insoluble) by our houses of worship proclaiming God is in that disorder! Holy God won’t ride on your donkey or elephant! FOLLOWERS OF TRUTH WILL ONLY SIDE WITH HEAVENLY FREEDOM GIVEN MAN AND NOT TRUST BIAS FOUND IN EVERY MAN THAT PRECLUDES SOME MEN LACK CIVILITY.

Today’s Thought “Conjoined Twins” G. Ward 1 John 5:1 “Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.” Belief in God through Christ is positively huge. However, the interrogation thereunto is minimal from so many. The instruction it offers places demand on our soul as we’re spiritually transformed from sin and self (i.e. opinions, perspectives of old and mostly desiring to be owned) to become altogether new. Systems (both educationally and that which promotes our being industrious) abhors being owned by anything or anyone. Those same systems promote empowerment unilateral of Infinite Wisdom’s unlimited and unwavering guidance offered and while theorizing from those deemed scholarly insist we strive for power of sorts, we forget our prior endeavors considerate of such, that never lent satisfaction. Our connectivity unto the All-Wise Savior has become true reprieve from egomania sanctioned by standards in predominance that ruins and causes the soul’s longing for a place called merciful love. HE won’t disappoint.

Today’s Thought “We Have the Cure” G. Ward 2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. Unbelief is a religion; therefore observance of the word of God is not their final authority. When America talks a divide for Church and state it promotes an attitude of dissent, a having your cake and eating it too adoption (Matt.7:13-14). Yours and mine own view of inerrancy (i.e. God’s Word) that makes the Lord owner of our mindsets were never instructed to allow political activism to dictate compliance in our objectivity to make Christ known. Perhaps you’ve sinned by praying for your candidate and not the other in the same? We must ready ourselves in what’s deemed a free society’s choice. Those choices most assuredly won’t resemble Holy God’s because HIS original intent of mankind being ruled by HIM won’t relent. Will you pay more attention to the unrest, or trust (through availability unto His will) mercifully?

Today’s Thought “For Preachers Only” G. Ward Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Moral codes from Holy God cannot be subjectively suitable for what was inarguable for centuries before legislation decided people’s choice matters over the Almighty’s. Moreover, being complicit in the same moral violation often translates DISPARITY IGNORED when statistical data clearly reveals sectors in our nation’s ethnic make-up are 5 times more prone to innocently suffer great loss (from a family scope) primarily due to sectarian economics. Holy God’s demands are never to be construed by mankind’s deliberate activity that pompously declares he isn’t responsible for one or two transgressions while being guilty in so much. The unsatisfactory merge of politics and Truth (*Jn.14:6) is in itself violating our spiritual duty (Matt.22:15-21). *Mankind will cease to argue (the particulars of God’s demand) when invitation unto the Only Righteous One is the insistence (through mercy shown) from every believer and we’ve come thus far in utter disobedience to witness anarchy whereas situational morality exercised has HEAVEN turning a deaf ear.

Today’s Thought “Living for the Weekend!” G. Ward Leviticus 23 23 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25 You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD.” “We shall come rejoicing, Bringing in the Sheaves” is a verse in a song sung no more, not because it’s without spiritual significance, but because we’ve come to a place in our demand for music that transcends an agricultural embrace most understood centuries ago. The Jewish Nation of today still celebrates Rosh Hashanah on today’s eve. It’s remains their introduction of the New Year while also commemorating an end time (agriculturally) to which gathering the harvest sought worshipping the Lord who enabled true sustenance among them. It was the prefacing for their greatest worship commitment Yom Kippur (days of atonement), comparable to our Easter (that says we acknowledge all our sins have been washed away by the truest Sacrifice ever – the Lamb of God). The perpetuity of worship has been given all to acknowledge and festivals of sorts were given for the kind of soul reflection that demanded repentance. Worship now is more considered a thing we do at our perspective place of religion. Moreover, our departure from those temples are soon forgotten to every kind of plan we decide as prudent to follow with pleas unto The Almighty to bless them. Parties just aren’t the same…

Today’s Thought “Everybody Is A Star…” G. Ward Galatians 6:4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. When I was in kindergarten and after having a good day the teacher would place a star on my forehead (a small colored one with adhesive, once moisture was applied). My efforts in great citizenship aimed to receive the star so as to create a boast, not because it was dutiful. I recall many of the other children’s sadness as their names weren’t called in the same. My compassion for the others (in their lack) was non-existent and compelled my smiling to be antagonistic joy. My youngest grandson is now in kindergarten and I’d like to think I’ve evolved from immaturity of old; but any failure on my part to inspire another towards excellence through exemplary behavior first found in me is without heavenly recognition, because the diligence due mankind emanates from the highest, preeminent theological reality that insists Holy God is at watch.

Today’s Thought “Leftover Fish” G. Ward Ecclesiastes 5:1-2 Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil. 2 Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few. There’s a regurgitated discourse from many that seeks recognition of their intellect while imagining applause from an audience soon to be silenced as the only One that matters views every motive of man; therefore, I digress…

Today’s Thought “Climate Change?” G. Ward Ephesians 4:5 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism Spiritual Bigotry, what exactly is that Gregory? It’s first entirely un-spiritual and secondly you’re too big to condescend to God’s way over your own. Your power of persuasion in matters lacking eternal quality is given over to sectarian morality (the measurement of a few sins uncommitted that substantiate self-righteousness) without regard to the first commandment given after the Redeemer paid the price entirely and while your invitation exists, it refuses to take one by the hand (in discipleship), showing them the way (and to do so indiscriminately). Moreover, you admit that the Almighty made an error when HE chose that President and kudos to Him when choosing another (of our liking – Ro.13:1-2). Therefore, I’ll pray real hard for the one I like and pity the other. Our presumed love, loves our children, even forgiving them for repeated violations and render others hopeless, tagging them as social rejects, while forgetting the patriarchs of the faith could have been deemed in the same. Oh yes, we say we forgive as having been forgiven, not understanding the contingency of mercy and pardon; while pervading statements like “I forgive them, but we can never go back to where we were” or “I can forgive, but I won’t forget!” Our social networking seeks to inspire others to believe in themselves to never question would you believe in such a one with tremendous failure (particularly when you lack charge with whether the next moment will be granted) who even deny ownership by a Gentle Savior who created them, as HE alone insists governance over the life HE gave them? Belief on your terms is not belief at all! GET TO THE ALTAR QUICKLY! Ok, I’ll stop.

Today’s Thought “Virtual Church” G. Ward Acts 17:11 11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. It appeared a curse when first exposed to such a virus disallowing many to convene at their perspective place of worship. As we’ve now been exposed to seven months without physical fellowship, our being in touch with souls willing to now embrace other means through technology, yet permits intimacy with Christ. My indignation however burns for some who frivolously receive God’s word through sermon’s moment intellectually versus a plan promoting assurance by great note taking whereas meditations become the saturation necessary to adhere in all that’s delivered. Celebrating the teacher’s eloquence discounts the messages’ receptivity and keeps the hearer striving against the wind. Upon hearing ideology the listener who hasn’t endeavored subject matter feels inadequate to share similarly and therefore renders himself inept. The gospel’s presentation removes the challenges aforementioned whereby everyone qualifies to share because the LORD remains their strength.

Today’s Thought “Does God Need Sleep?” G. Ward Romans 1 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools. There’s a great indictment on the land to which we live and its paperwork reveals very few names without guilt regarding the charge – unfaithfulness. The first premise in knowing God is implicit trust of the work Christ endeavored (completely so) and our complaints (i.e. opinions, along with de-contextualized scripture) with what we deem compromise or deficiency in OTHERS won’t matter (*Ro.8:28). The Almighty doesn’t need awakening to earthly realities, you do!

Today’s Thought “I Only Choose Perfect Bananas” G. Ward Romans 13 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness” is excellence through song; however when there’s selective choice in following some commands and exercising personal vicissitudes in what we feel the scriptures relay will reveal lack of trust. Holy God really won’t ever consult with us concerning His righteous standard (previously constructed) that transcends our limited scope; He just needs our obedience thereunto.

Today’s Thought “Conference Call” G. Ward 1 Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. In a time where news exists at an instant and whereas we’ve now obtained various electronic gadgetry enabling our capacity, the believer is challenged with rendering proper response. Most important for our acknowledgement is to first understand that we’ve been bought with a price, along with no longer being our own. Secondly, our contemplations lead us to evaluate the information we’re exposed for its ever changing impact. In other words, circumstances come and go, but the eternal hope in God won’t relent. While spiritual revival that evokes proper priority remains the objective for believers, they must never forget the common denominator essential for every man that regards his potential lapse unto prudence. It’s not everyone else needing Jesus, it’s me.

Today’s Thought “Weeds In My Garden” G. Ward Genesis 3:19 “By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” If truth be told, we all are prone to the victimization of man’s sinning in the garden (i.e. in and out of difficulties). Our mindsets however, particularly for this era, seek to nullify the actuality of our earthly plight established in the heavenlies. Our murmurings are the same as Israel’s after freedom was established from Egypt; leaders of truth are despised even though the message is Holy God’s. It’s the same as the abolishment of slavery onto a new bondage of Jim Crow Law; however this era’s transcendence concerns the whole of mankind, making him a slave unto principles of pleasure. Ultimately, any source in a moment’s presentation that will introduce small or great bouts of euphoria, will do; to forget self love defies (even poisonous) every man’s purpose. The Bread of Life that Christ has become is nutritious enough for our consideration, providing sustenance, whereby hunger and thirst for anything less won’t do.

Today’s Thought “Test Taking” G. Ward Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. As the student is compelled to prepare for an upcoming exam, so it is unto every disciple in the Lord. That educational preparation however, lacks the similitude of intimacy with God in that, observation of facts rehearsed are without honor (promoting intellectualism). The spiritual demand for worshippers won’t ever anticipate a passing grade for the many tests life will present, but more celebrates reliance on the governance the Book provides.

Today’s Thought “Spewed from the Mouth” G. Ward Jonah 2:8 Those who pay regard to vain idols forsake their hope of steadfast love. Idol worship is/will always be what others do with equivalency for that which grants them completion, making them whole. Strangely and without spiritual cognizance, their posture can echo belonging to Holy God in that same vein. The superficial theorizing from many would more contemplate an idol as a person greatly appreciated or some kind of token, but the actuality is more a soulful positioning that promotes (i.e. defends) their belief regarding this person or thing as most effective in creating solace for their lives (cf. Jn.14:27). The Almighty demands sole allegiance from those He created and while conditions for the whole of mankind ever evolve, we must never consider resolution from someone or something made, as viable to pursue (particularly for any significant period). Idolatry begins with pursuit of sources without recognition of HIS sovereignty and a practice outside this realm denies deliverance intended (Ac.4:12)…

Thursday, September 3, 2020

Today’s Thought “The Hamster’s Wheel” G. Ward Galatians 5:7-10 “You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough. I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear his judgment, whoever he is.” Heresy (beliefs contrary to God’s Word) is the culprit to violation of implicit trust in Holy God’s will and especially when the practice of impersonal worship (i.e. one speaker making poetic appeal to great audiences, perhaps unfamiliar with their spiritual condition) demands eloquence from leaders over the practicality truth offers (cf. Ac.2:43-47). Spiritual realities places responsibility on the hearer that compels a total surrender onto Sufficiency and while the worldly view promotes philosophies similarly and seemingly prudent, they’re ever changing, appealing to the relentless pursuit of pleasure found in mankind (Jer.17:9). Instead, true believers demonstrate gratefulness unto how gracious the Savior is in supplying merciful love (even through death and resurrection), paying the price for our sin and leading our meditation’s comparability to that of the caged gerbil on its wheel; while it appears impractical for many as they watch, it brings great joy to the rodent.

Today’s Thought “Vote Conservative?” G. Ward James 2: 10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY,” also said, “DO NOT COMMIT MURDER.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. I must admit that I’ve grown weary of my so called Christian brethren who seek to pervade on others their political stance as relative to Jesus’ commands. They question the complicity of one partisanship in killing the unborn (to forget personal responsibility unto the same either soon to be birthed or children existent without proper nutrition, education, clean drinking water, etc.). These zealots also despise those who seek to change the narrative on gender assignment and what holy matrimony has always meant, while forgetting they’ve been called out to instruct those, patiently and lovingly. The believer’s role has never been to more identify improprieties found in those violating the commands of God (*Matt.7:1-5). That more suggests they’ve conquered the sin nature within (Ro.3:10, 23). Products of mercy shall never consider not extending the same. Moreover, Preachers are guilty of spiritual neglect in all their purporting to create more pomposity among their congregants as they look down on what they deem as societal ills and the actuality of that view renders those so-called participants hopeless. The larger sin for any are thoughts that empties onto permanent discord furthering ideologies (even politics), particularly when any fail to see it my way and while chants of God and country remains loud, they forget to see that HE is loving the world (Jn.3:16-17). How dare I know your politics along with or over Jesus!

Today’s Thought “Bee Venom” G. Ward 1 Corinthians 15: 55 O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. My life marvels at those suggestive of an allergy to Bees (the sting primarily). Was it the allergist that determined such a thing, or their fear of pain? Moreover, I’m troubled about the many who’ve echoed such, questioning whether all have medical proof therein? The transcendence of fear is with indiscriminate category, stemming from lack of familiarity/knowledge. The inevitability of death (a requirement of life inescapable) is perhaps the greatest unspoken fear existential in man. The grief relative to having lost a friend or loved one is far reaching, reminding us of this personal eventuality. The whole of mankind’s proposed existence should recognize his inferiority to the Creator, submitting to His gentle rule (Ro.1:18-20). Instead, their love for self denies superior care that empties onto habit and the sting from the bee becomes synonymous with the death experience and while the stinger can be removed, passing away without concession to Christ as Lord is with eternal, excruciating pain (Rev.21:6-8).
