Today’s Thought “In My Little Room” G. Ward

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Our hearts are manipulative, particularly as any seek to juxtapose another unto their own thinking and attitude as if to say there are definitive answers to what I say or do (cf. Jer.17:9/Ac.4:12). While there has been some success from the endeavors of man, rarely will any interrogate great failures in the same, forcing adoption of a suitable authority. Life is cumbersome when a quest for self-preservation and being satisfied is at the helm of our existence. It can however be made easy when admittance unto my limitations (found in every man) relinquishes custody of a power I never owned (cf. Ps.24:1/Gal.2:20).

Today’s Thought “The Sanctuary: Not the Building, But the Heart…” G. Ward

1 Peter 3:13-16 “Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good?  But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;  and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.”

It’s the toughest thing to be mean spirited to those meek and mild, but can happen. The objective for the believer must insist on an exercise in trust unto the standard that protects their earthly stance while yet longing for immortality soon granted (cf. 2 Cor.5:1-3). It’s very difficult for the bully to maintain intimidation tactics when an audience sought Shelter (comparable to a solid steel wall) to blanket insults. Ultimately and hopefully, it may cause the same perpetuator of despair to ask one they sought to attack, real questions concerning one’s stability under fire and if there’s little to no answer, earth’s climate grows darker.

Today’s Thought “Thoughts of Morbidity” G. Ward

2 Corinthians 5:1

“For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

There’s a horrid accommodation given so many at times of funerals guaranteeing that their loved ones were escorted unto an eternity with Holy God although they (the deceased) failed to make HIM Owner while living (cf. Ro.6:23). Contrary to popular belief there is stringent criterion for Heaven’s entry (cf. Gal.2:20) and no one has access due to tremendous humanitarian efforts (*Ro.3:10).

We’ve become so entirely regressive, blaming the greed factoring presented by self-imposed preachers that keeps us away from concise presentations therein; but the primary cause of any missing an eternity with the Master is those who attend worship services regularly failing to be the preachers unto any as they’re commissioned to do (*Matt.28:19, Ro.10:14), constituting a “Dead Church.”

Today’s Thought “Steadfastness Yields A Perfect Dividend” G. Ward

Titus 1:15-16

“To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

Our society has demanded we move expeditiously unto a “new and improved” status both philosophically along with acquisition of the newest technological advances (cf. 1 Cor.3:12-15). Although enjoying the newest I-Phone may not be problematic, denial of an android device won’t preclude its usefulness.

We cannot allow meaningless dictates (transcendent to phones) from our world govern what’s been essential for other generations before our existence (cf. 2 Cor.5:7); particularly when our presence in the Creator’s today issued absolutely no control unto us concerning whether we’ll exist in the next moment. Earth’s presence is short-lived, a practice field for eternity, requiring daily review as to Who I depend on with an implicit trust (Ac.4:12). That to which I embrace now determines where I go. There is no other contrast to perceive and if my mind thinks otherwise my conscience remains defiled. May it never be!

Today’s Thought “Black Man On Elevator; Watch Your Purse” G. Ward

Acts 17:26-27

“And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.”

Holy God has been gracious to mankind without category. There have however been some junior anthropologists who insist that some ethnicities are with greater intellectual aptitude while some naturally suffer in less; forgetting sociological and environmental implications for any. While mental challenges do exist, let’s understand that no ethnicity is with greater propensity than another ethnic group. Race for the Almighty has no divide, while mankind’s lack of follow-ship of Heaven’s standard insists it does. Moreover the misappropriation of scripture allows false notions of procreating among people from different regions as absurd, while Holy God only takes one’s soul with Him (cf.1 Sa.16:7). Shouldn’t we have the attitude of our Creator (cf. Phil.2:5-11)? Social constructs given man violates a hope unto any desiring HIM as Lord; particularly when it deems a people group unqualified (cf. *Gal.3:28).

Today’s Thought “Though He Slay Me…” G. Ward

1 John 5:19 “We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.”

While there may be righteous indignation for those souls seeking to be productive citizens in the earth, one must remember the Author of the entire universe and His pardoning unto the sin encompassing every man and more extend to others a life line shown them. You cannot expect a righteous result from the world’s gathering unto a common sense approach for everyone, no matter how many show up for that rally. Full surrender unto Heaven’s Constitutional Laws will guide you through every bout in difficulty perceived (from this weary land) until arrival at the place the All-Wise Savior prepared for those who will trust implicitly.

Today’s Thought “Standing In the Corner” G. Ward

Psalm 1:2 “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.”

Meditation is said to bring about a full comprehension of circumstances presented along with an exploration of one’s character that determines to reach their own potential. Spiritual meditation determines observation, then obedience towards the Object of their faith and HIS mandates presented grants peaceable fulfillment. Moreover, any spiritually considerate enjoys the Shelter HE provides, determining to be hidden from the wiles of worldly challenges.

Today’s Thought “Cannibalism Sanctioned?” G. Ward

So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

Communion with Holy God should be a daily pursuit and when the craving for doing so occurs spiritual conformity becomes evident. There are however outsiders, those who conveniently take up God’s word in both innocence and horrid presumption demanding explanation for occurrences inexplicable. That kind of demand refuses faith in “what saith the Lord” and quickly challenges others with this lack.

Deciphering truth from the world is with a myriad of interpretation, whereas the eternal standard remains misunderstood until another delivered by that same message equips them (cf. Ro.10:14-15, 1 Cor. 2:14-16).

Today’s Thought “I Dream of Genie” G. Ward

Matthew 6:8-9 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Pray, then, in this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

I believe this warrants an absolute slow down. Did you just speed through this passage based on familiarity? Generations prior have recited the same to never view this as the model prayer in Christ’s intention for every believer. Moreover, we’ve missed that every prayer was to be governed by this holy dynamic; God knows and that His will is entirely indifferent than man’s (Isa.55:8-9).

Our times insist on a “morphine drip” via a heavenly intravenous port that takes away every pain at an instant, along with a superior bank from Heaven’s institution that gives liberally and exceedingly more than one ever imagined although horribly de-contextualized. The wholeness of the “Genie in the Bottle” perception of God that mandates if you ask you’ll receive, forgets the sole contingency that it must be in accordance to HIS will (cf.*Gal.6:7-8) and the opposite contrast was a television series long ago.

Today’s Thought “The Best Gift Ever” G. Ward

Philippians 1:3-5

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now.

Our limited scope as human beings would love to contemplate control of our thoughts each moment; there is however a nudging of Spirit proportion (that is unlimited parameter) seeking to share Heaven’s sentiment in great care for those exposed in a weary land. Our praise on today must open the door to even greater compassion unto a recall whereby depletion of spirit may exist in another who is beloved by Holy God.

Today’s Thought “Baby Contest” G. Ward

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

The entire embrace from a loving parent that may include bumper placards that celebrate their young people’s academia along with sweet sixteen parties planned elaborately won’t ever equip them with the peace necessary for endurance when accolades are lessened.

Although daily concise presentations that shared absolute surrender to the Lord went forsaken, today has become the “Do Over” potentially granting redemption even if that child has reached 99 (cf. Deut.6:4-7).

Today’s Thought “Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia” G. Ward

1 John 1:5-6

“This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.  If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.”

One of the most intense songs from the early 1970’s popularized by Vicki Lawrence (actress, author, and comedienne) remains "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.” The lyrics portrayed the simplicity in anticipation from a young man arriving at the town of his residence after a two-week journey anxious to see his bride and before going home stops at the local pub for a drink with a best friend who shares how this fellow needs to know of her infidelity while he was away. This best friend includes that he also was unfaithful with her whereby this young man departed enraged. Murder of the best friend is the final result and while it would appear that this young man is the perpetrator, he was not. The chorus insists that his attorney was ill-equipped causing the judge’s expedient decision that demanded this young man be hung (without proper jurisprudence) ALTHOUGH INNOCENT.

Do you think this young man longed for an opportunity to forsake a drink before venturing home (cf. Ps.119:133-136)? What about his selection of this bride, were there warnings violated obscuring righteous pursuits (cf. Jas.1:5)?

Submission today unto our Omniscient God denies sin’s entry…

Today’s Thought “Good Credit” G. Ward

Luke 1:5-6

In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah; and he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord.

How utterly enticing for young people upon receipt of their first credit card to walk moderately in spending power. You swipe and take goods and services enabling payments (generally minimal) unto those lending institutions to become lengthy obligations soon to clash with ordinary fiscal responsibilities; whereas soon a trust may become violated (*cf. Heb.13:5-6).

Our spiritual predecessors like Zacharias and Elizabeth practiced implicit trust in their Maker’s provision. Those times leaned heavily on marriage then children and these two were disgraced from the latter. While grief may have been their unfortunate accompaniment, the intentional practice of faith prevailed enabling not just an ordinary child, but the forerunner of Christ our Lord who was prophesied about almost a thousand years earlier.

The essence of faith pursues the way superior to visuals. It awaits the plan Holy God introduces (not planning to then ask the Most High to bless…). The residual effect (of trust in the All-Wise Savior) lends peace and contentment and those cannot be purchased.

Today’s Thought “The Plight of Man” G. Ward

Joshua 24:14

“Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.”

When I was a small child more than often you would soon encounter what is now “risk management” disaster in the way of a stairwell with steps with absolutely no backing (comparable to the old fire escape). Then there was the illustrious elevator. Those days witnessed this huge metal gate that had to be closed before a button (indicating what floor one desired) could be depressed. While it began as a safety mechanism, if any would have their hand in the way upon closure, their today would be with a prosthetic one. These phobias never came with warning that invited fear but naturally encompassed my limited intellect as potentially dangerous and no one could convince me I was wrong.

Our assessment of historical markers is similar. We’ve seen some good days along with bad, particularly from generations before us. Moreover, some like myself experienced outstanding parentage who shared stories relative to history that spoke of hardships along with victories from our predecessors. We’re now in an era where information is marred by technological demand, squashing the kind of communication that once sought to instruct with warnings and admonishing. Finally, the transcendence of experience (whether historical or personal) must regard truer deliverance and its DELIVERER to understand that history repeats itself because there was never resolve given by man to prohibit sufferings (cf.* Ac.4:12).

Today’s Thought “A New Song” G. Ward

Psalm 91:1-2

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!”

More than protection from wild beasts, danger and enemy forces is a peace that hides my frailty. Moreover, the sin that dwells in me won’t metastasize when the cover the LORD provides becomes the insistence of my desires. My soul needs more reflection on the times of solace when this consideration blanketed all my conjuring to see the futility therein.

The umbilical cord synonymous with the pain of life must be severed from attempts to resolve matters presented men through concession in knowing that success from any (particularly before our generation) lost the battle to self-governance solely because he needed a Great Shepherd. Get in the house, it’s cold outside!
