Today’s Thought “Side-Tracked” G. Ward

Go; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no money belt, no bag, no shoes; and greet no one on the way.” Luke 10:3-4

Our Captain of hospitality wasn’t being inhospitable in saying “greet no one,” but demanded a cultural greeting be denied; this salutation’s process involved a stay at another’s abode including dinner and much conversation. While it appears (aspirationally) a perfect society, it would ultimately subtract from the urgency in delivering the greatest message of reconciliation. The danger involved in such a task has become the rejection of Truth on today. Although many seek (solely on their own) to distort Holy God’s word in accordance to our times (i.e. its downward spiral in morality), your calling to fulfill (particularly as a little lamb) must prepare to be devoured (even eternally so) when/if you deny your personal commission (Mt.28:19).

Today’s Thought “The Object of Faith” G. Ward

“Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” Luke 10:38-40

Great task is endeavored by many (as we’re 6 days away from Christmas), involving tremendous attention to details as family and friends gather for this upcoming Holiday Season. Unfortunately, in some cases you’ll know of their efforts; particularly if you fail at complimenting their design and delicacies. Moreover, their attention to details demands that your arrival be “at time” vs. tardy, so as to avoid views of disdain from that same host.

Birthday celebrations should more extend homage to the ONE worthy of commemorating. If we’re not careful, we’ll more exacerbate what has been by extending a word or two concerning the Person of honor, whereby no gift is given HIM, to then ensure that others are flourished with presents.

Today’s Thought “Comfort and Joy” G. Ward

“Greet Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.” Romans 16:15-16

For me, the best Christmas Carol sung is “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” Moreover, I’m just incomplete until I hear the repetitive encouragement rendered, “Tidings of Comfort and Joy…”

The same admonishing aforementioned by the Apostle Paul, is the physical embrace sometimes necessary for the whole of humanity that is often symbolic of Heaven’s touch (particularly when the vicious cycle embracing selfishness has become so entirely pervasive among men). Be careful however with all the kissing – Can you say mononucleosis?

Today’s Thought “On the Firing Line” G. Ward

The high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You not answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?” But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him, “I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.” Matthew 26:62-63

Our persuasiveness, that is our seeking to convey a point of view or shed defense may be an eloquent discourse, but if the hearer has determined you’re wrong or guilty, prepare for a verdict unfavorable.

To be equated with the Savior is unfortunately not the aspirational goal for many (cf. Eph.5:1-2). The societal court that seeks to tear apart your personal Shelter (*Ps.91:1-2) from storm that includes wrongful castigation and ridicule will fail (Ro.8:15-18); particularly when your submission determines that my perceived war with them is their lack of pursuit of the Most High (Eph.6:12).

Happy Thursday!

Today’s Thought “Round the Mulberry Bush” G. Ward

“You shall not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who surround you, 15 for the Lord your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; otherwise the anger of the Lord your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 6:14-15

When perfect resolution is sought from social, economic or political realities, it’s not resolve at all. Moreover, temporary appeasement is a horrid reality found in man and soon diminishes unto another conquest when that pursuit fails. Audaciously, those who fail then call on the Maker of heaven and earth (as if HE’s a genie in a bottle) to bless their newest endeavor so they won’t appear insufficient.  When that thing doesn’t come to pass, they move on to another conquest and the process starts all over again.

Idolatry is synonymous with unfaithfulness insisting that the object of one’s faith lies in what’s visible. Holy God’s insistence that we place complete trust in His sovereignty so as to invite solace and contentment for our very short span in earth must always be our goal. There are no more mountains to climb when rest is sought from the SOURCE in prudence (*Ro.3:4).

Today’s Thought “Between Opinion” G. Ward

“Moreover, he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor shall he cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, since the Lord has said to you, ‘You shall never again return that way.’ 17 He shall not multiply wives for himself, or else his heart will turn away; nor shall he greatly increase silver and gold for himself.” Deuteronomy 17:16-17

Selective memory regarding Life’s instructions will ultimately empty unto misery. Holy God rendered explicit terms for any King that served Israel (particularly for His people who would insist on governance outside of His Perfect Rule – cf. 1 Sa.8).

We, as believers are said to be administrators of justice (*1 Pe.2:4-6). The justice necessary for the whole of mankind is to understand (through concise presentation – Ro.10:14) an exoneration unto any insisting HE govern them. While ceremonial practices have been obliterated, moral ethics are perpetual…

Today’s Thought “Stop Pushing!” G. Ward

“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35

Shopping days are now few. Secret Santa gifts have become necessary in the workplace and civic associations while the whole of community seems to be involved in the same. The Salvation Army bells are ringing, SERVING as a reminder that the 26th of December is a reality (with or without you), desiring to minister to the less fortunate for the year upcoming (particularly some of those exercising in horrible stewardship of those resources presented during holiday time – indiscriminately so).

John quoted the Savior’s insistence, pervading on man the best identifier in saying we know HIM (cf. 1 Jn.4:7-9). Don’t allow our brothers and sisters of the Salvation Army to be the only ones sharing love and hospitality; if we’re honoring the birth of Christ, HE’s deserving of the best gift. So what shall I render?

Today’s Thought “You Know I Tried…” G. Ward

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.” John 14:23-24

Faith is difficult, but necessary. Moreover, the demand for the object of our faith must rest and reside In Jesus as Lord. It’s even compared to the size of a mustard seed to illustrate that when Holy God’s power is exercised by any of small faith, it becomes the demonstration enabling our trusting HIM more to grow (*remembering the mustard seed grows a huge tree).

Holy God will most certainly receive any as they are, but staying as they’ve been is entirely unacceptable.

Today’s Thought “Success Defined” G. Ward

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1

Difficulties in our time have many estimating that no prior generation endured as much and to that end I beg to differ. Seemingly argumentative a view, standing in faith, particularly submissive to Holy God’s auspice over history’s patriarchs had them perceived as buffoons by the populous that caused great distress emotionally and physically (that included death). We’re now exposed with vain philosophy that insists we more seek conformity without judgment unto a new societal code that estimates the Most High’s demand for mankind as antiquated (cf. Heb.13:8).

Partial standing empties onto a fall whereby no one is there to catch you (cf. Ac.1:18-19).

Happy Wednesday!

Today’s Thought “I Wish I Had Listened” G. Ward

“My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Do not let kindness and truth leave you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 3:1-3

Wisdom imparted can often be rejected by segments of society that awaits a perceived credible source. Moreover, the variation of wisdom is often and particularly inauthentic because it fails to credit the Source. Wisdom is not a word until it determines to authenticate unto any Who is “All Wise” (cf. Mt.24:35) and the value of implicit follow-ship of life’s code found in Holy God’s word.

Therefore our promulgations should be disregarded for its limited scope that may sound off with perceived intelligence, but forgets that the next moment’s contingency for you and me belongs to the Most High (1 Pe.4:11).

Today’s Thought “Is the Sovereignty of God A Mistake?” G. Ward

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”  God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:26-27

Recent Headlines read, Pink and Carey Hart raising children to be gender neutral.” The singer loves the way the world is changing when it comes to gender roles and stereotypes. "I was in a school and the bathroom outside the kindergarten said, 'Gender Neutral - anybody,' and it was a drawing of many different shapes," Pink said. "I took a picture of it and I wrote, 'Progress.' I thought that was awesome. I love that kids are having this conversation” (MSN. COM).

Amazingly, humanity’s posture of ever-evolving seeks a demand for Holy God to be equally wishy-washy (cf. Jn.4:24). I never felt obliged to come out of the closet in my heterosexuality; understanding it’s far too small an ideology against what I participate in for the remainder of 23.5 hours in a day. The hamburger I consumed took longer. Am I a hamburger?

Today’s Thought “My Easy Chair” G. Ward

“In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple.” Isaiah 6:1

America leads the world in commerce and values their leaders to set and maintain a tone in prosperity. We won’t eat leftovers, nor will we be seen with the same garments; within our daily grasp (even for the poorest) are myriads of choices. King Uzziah’s leadership was emblematic of a similar prosperity (cf. 2 Chr.26), so when he died despair vs. trust in Holy God became the unfortunate factoring. As Isaiah was commissioned to these people, Holy God shared their obstinance towards righteous conformity (cf.1 Sa.8).

Historically, nations insistence on proposed prosperity that denies its Creator (i.e. true governance) is doomed towards implosion and if the Most High is loving the world (Jn.3:16), could America be His example (through utter destruction – cf. Isa.6:11-12) to demand the world’s compliance? HE’s done it before (*Lk.14:23)…

Today’s Thought “My Mountaintop Experience” G. Ward

“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” Matthew 6:12

Jesus Christ, sinless; all men sinful. Moreover, the ONE without sin died to then rise from death so that we wouldn’t experience unforgiveness that denies eternality. Our confession of the Righteous ONE as Lord over the life He’s given is now with demand that our earthly pursuits shares forgiveness, along with restoration unto all men.

Real HOPE was given thousands of years ago while mankind yet complicates simple reality (i.e. Partiality – Jas 2:1-7, Unforgiveness – Mt.6:14-15, Lack of Love – 1 Jn.4:7-8). Ultimately the sin of disobedience is the premise that subtracts from any being known by HIM (cf. Mt. 7:21-23) and the perpetuation in deceit that says I’ll love them, but my interaction with them is now re-established as minimal, is not forgiveness at all.

Happy Wednesday!

Today’s Thought “The Strongest Barometer” G. Ward

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10

The Sermon on the Mount (*Mt. – Chapters 5-7) is the very hinge for the entirety of the New Testament. Christ introduced the way so very opposite of practical response from humankind.  The will of Holy God is found solely in HIS word and man’s approach unto it must never seek to juxtapose the Sovereignty therein. One can echo religious sentiment of “I trust Him” while simultaneously regarding their supplication as a reminder unto the MOST HIGH of His own words so that it may benefit their own circumstance.

We must more contemplate that Children’s hospitals are equal in proportion to those adult facilities and funeral plans are made from both. While my personal prayer for health in others may be incessant, my soul (at the same time) is with preparation (preeminently so) to praise HIM for mercy and grace provided thus far (cf. Ro.8:18)…

Today’s Thought “Desired Effect” G. Ward

“Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at Your presence As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil To make Your name known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Your presence!” Isaiah 64:1-2

Unrest from the whole of society (this time of year) that includes great impatience along with lack of hospitality, longs for the comparability of what a Norman Rockwell portrait represents (i.e. continuity and peace among men). Pleas from today’s peacemakers, although admirable, forget that hope for mankind’s conformity unto righteousness is with great contingency from the Most High (cf. Isa.65:1-10).

Isaiah’s rebuke from Holy God has become our opportunity to share with potential brothers and sisters that knowing HIM more includes being known (*Lk.10:17-20)…

Today’s Thought “The Street Lights Came On…” G. Ward

But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29

If a kid approached you many years ago to express that he/she overheard your Mother speaking to their Mom whereby it was okay for you to remain outside playing after the street lights illuminated, would you have continued to play?

Who then is Holy God whereas the pressures in life maintain your ear being more in tune with man’s vain philosophy over perfect guidance?  Inasmuch as the penalty for violating Mother would mean death, it wasn’t literal, just very painful; but a practice in disobedience unto Holy God is death (*Ro.6:23).

Today’s Thought “Choosing My Best Suit” G. Ward

“Whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11

True devotion unto our Creator delights in His Holy control for one’s life; particularly in view of the peace and joy it promotes in having experienced such guidance before. Anxieties of sorts, along with lack in spiritual preparedness, obscure the best consideration for the believer; it’s therefore incumbent on those who trust HIM to long for His presence every moment (cf. 1 Pe.5:6-9). Imposing on a limited scope in wisdom (found in man) yields to more uncertainty (i.e. lack in confidence). Avoid potential embarrassment by choosing to remain hidden (cf. *Josh.24:11-15)

Today’s Thought “Semantics vs. Facts” G. Ward

Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written: "So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge." Romans 3:4

A truthful politician (particularly when running for an office) is an example of what a misnomer represents and the one stating (emphatically) that Christ is Lord, while ascribing to selective motivational promptings, will soon know that HE ALONE is worthy to be perceived (cf. Isa.45:23).

The most esteemed writer, along with purveyors in eloquence won’t compare; unless their old ideologies are denied, giving way to “Thus Saith the LORD.”

Today’s Thought “Under A Guise of Blessings” G. Ward

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8

Every motive of my existence should long for a peaceable contentment therein (cf. Pr.3:5-6). Instead, the whole of man insists on a practice in pleasuring oneself under a banner portraying that it’s my life to live (*1 Cor.6:19-20). There ultimately will be a spiritual reckoning perhaps too late in attaining and no matter how many chants of pseudo encouragement exists; the eternal standard is with tremendous contingency.

The beauty of this day given, affords me the second chance that desires conformity unto what’s truly best for me; that is, guidance in my every thought from the One and Only Proprietor of excellence.

Surrendering All, signed unfaithful

Today’s Thought “46 Days Till Christmas” G. Ward

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

When/if the rich make promises in extending gifts to their friends who are impoverished occurs, the poor recipient remains practically sleepless, while vigilant, to never doubt the pledge. Anticipation diminishes in many that have perfect access (Ro.10:8-9) to the Owner of “The cattle on a thousand hills” and HIS presentation of gifts are tantamount to everything we’ll ever need; but we fail to see because faith in the Proprietor more pertains to the intangible (*Jn.10:10-11).

“He may not come when you want Him…”

Today’s Thought “Statue of a Fool” G. Ward

“You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5

Our relationship to those younger shouldn’t be relative to where our intellect was at that same age; nor should it be so entirely condescending to preclude that a whole generation is hopeless. Persevering in God through Christ must first believe that I’ve been redeemed and spiritually transformed from all that didn’t matter in my life’s journey before Christ and then seek to give it away so another would experience peace (cf. Phil.3:7-9). When/if my portrayal in the Spirit realm seeks more to be relevant (i.e. towards cultural positioning), the beholder involved therein will/can quickly identify my disingenuous spirit, precluding my reaching them with “good news.” This is not to say to relax and just be you, it more lends greater opportunity to pervade on any your new ambassadorship (2 Cor.5:19-21).

Today’s Thought “Tis the Season…” G. Ward

“Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

The pervasive forces in evil mandated I return to education pursuing a degree in anthropology (unauthorized). My studies have revealed a chaos vivid to any who will view analytically. I say that because our church sits in the middle of an expansive demographic (both multi-housing and single dwelling homes that include every socio-economic class). The criminal element within is more desperate until springtime; he therefore is busy from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. (he must get his rest, for his job is criminology – an arduous pursuit).

Despair for any may not have them rob you of your goods, but the crime that seeks to de-motivate an implicit trust in follow-ship unto the All-Wise Savior happens subtly, so remaining in the grip of grace is essential (1 Pe. 5:6-7).

Happy Tuesday!

Today’s Thought “Small Town, Enlarged At A Moment’s Notice” G. Ward

“Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me!” 2 Timothy 3:10-11

Our exposure to teaching forgets to include great trouble that accompanies occupational realities. That lack in proper instruction enables mental meltdown for extended periods that questions why hazards are so pervasive. Moreover, certain venues are more contemplated as safer, although we’ve witnessed the opposite (cf. *Ps.127:1). When tragedy strikes it’s certainly not the time to impose on any distraught varied defense tactics, but to compassionately embrace the opportunity in portraying Holy God as Sufficient rest for all weary (Mt.11:28-30) promoting inclusiveness for so many that want to trust (*Col.1:28).

Happy Monday!

Today’s Thought “That Was Then and Now Is Now” G. Ward

He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on listening, but do not perceive; keep on looking, but do not understand.’ “Render the hearts of this people insensitive, Their ears dull, And their eyes dim, otherwise they might see with their eyes, Hear with their ears, Understand with their hearts, and return and be healed.” Isaiah 6:9-10

The Old Testament is still Holy God’s promise to man fulfilled by Christ’s righteousness. The commission we’ve enjoined ourselves unto is a calling similar to Isaiah’s; people still want God on their terms and not HIS. The arrogant growth (found in many) that practices self-sufficiency plays a worldly game in momentary bliss than eternal security and their success in re-inventing the wheel is our refusal to reverence The Almighty’s demands that teaches denial in presumed proficiency and to more understand that no one is absolute, only The Creator.

Today’s Thought “Presupposition, A Killer” G. Ward

Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez saying, “Because I bore him with pain.” Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!” And God granted him what he requested.” 1 Chronicles 4:9-10

Coffee mugs and songs made millions on scripture that celebrates Holy God for His production for their lives to never consider the key word to the Most High’s generosity; honorable. Jabez’s brothers were probably not borderline demonic, but more than likely they would be synonymous with our visual in what nominal Christianity appears to be for our time. Perhaps many view the blessings of God in wealthy terms, when all Jabez desired was to bring honor to his Creator, not to reside behind the gates to a palatial home with a Bentley parked in the circular driveway.

Today’s Thought “I Believe I Can Fly” G. Ward

“For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans 8:6-8

A spiritist will seek to re-establish possibilities in human satisfaction furthering voidance of total reliance on spiritual resolution found in Holy God’s word. The catchy phraseology from the spiritist is deemed achievable because the consumer is not impressed with waiting on Proficiency’s reprieve (that grants peace, cf. Isa.40:31) after having tried insufficiency from another author of temporal motivation, whereby an unending cycle of treasure hunting becomes wearisome and if the consumer is with any practicality, they’ll return to the wait that’s spiritually responsible to pursue (cf. Pr.1:24-29).

Today’s Thought “My Dossier” G. Ward

Hear the word of the Lord, O people of Israel; for the Lord has an indictment against the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or loyalty, and no knowledge of God in the land.” Hosea 4:1

Grace is cheapened in our era when personal interrogation refuses to enter the only courtroom that counts. Our boasts on the benefits of eternal association unto others should/must offer first the verdict given me that definitively pronounced “guilty” to then share great remorse unto my Judge, whereby HE pardons immediately.

Today’s Thought “Patience Demanded” G. Ward

“The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty. His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.” Nahum 1:3

The power of Holy God is equated with storms inexplicably damaging to those refusing His sovereignty while simultaneously protective to some encouraged by Him as an eternal presence. Our questions of how long will divisive evil persist, forgets He alone is all-knowing and powerfully astute. Therefore, the voidance of believer’s responsibility (past and present) perpetuates in not sharing the wealth of gospel Truth, purporting spiritual lethargy that keeps evil prevalent.

Today’s Thought “When I’m All Alone” G. Ward

And He also spoke a parable to them: “A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?” Luke 6:39

The way of the Lord is said to be personal because there is a proposed premise of independent research once exposed to HIS words (Ac.17:11) and when one is more impressed with a purveyor’s eloquence over the pursuit intended, it’s then called living in a religious America whereby statistical data reveals everyone knows Him, even while disobedient (6:46).

Today’s Thought “Integrity Defined” G. Ward

“But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. “ 1 Timothy 6:9

When/if my work’s contingency more embraces ideas of personal loftiness, I fail to embody what life should represent; particularly as it concerns the generosity in my reliance on the only moral code that counts as an eternity awaits for both the righteous and unrighteous (cf.Lk.6:46).

Today’s Thought “One More Conversation” G. Ward

“This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger.” James 1:19

The same admonishing necessary for the saints of James’ day continues for our time. The persecution given Christians then was enormous; there was no place to plant their feet (i.e. life on the run). Surely tensions were high as many sought co-existing vs. encouraging (interdependently) one another. The Roman government and many factions within its citizenry maintained hatred for the people of the Way and had it not been for James’ stern warning against conceding to pressure therein, the Empire’s control would probably have wrecked many nation’s pursuit in freedom now. Instead, the obedience from a few saints then, disassembled the enormity of a government perceivably invincible.

Holy God is not at rest regarding guiding the lives of men. Therefore, every word spoken by mankind should be representative of His plans denying ideology’s coup from overzealous men.

Today’s Thought “Those Eyes” G. Ward

“Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus.  And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.” Acts 9:8-9

There’s a heavenly demand given man to perceive that solely relies on visual impairment to worldly resolution and when my perspective continues to reign supreme over eternal reality, I choose to remain blind (cf. 2 Cor.5:7).

Today’s Thought “Eternally Confounded” G. Ward

“Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high, I cannot attain to it.” Psalm 139:4-6

There’s great struggle for any surrendered to Christ in offering thorough exposition on HIS words and when it’s not, heresy will soon ensue. The grace needed unto every hearer is first your own to perceive.

Today’s Thought “The Army of the Lord” G. Ward

“Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.” Proverbs 14:31

Poverty is a relative to every deficiency and anyone familiar with vs. intimately acquainted with the Most High lies in ruin needing someone anchored to throw a life line without verbiage, but the activity of where his strength exists (cf.. 2 Cor.12:9-11).

Today’s Thought “Esteemed Among Men” G. Ward

And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house for I have five brothers in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.” Luke 16:27-28

I’ve read these passages countless times before that portrays a rich man living contemptuously, that is void of spiritual dependence on Holy God. The day of his death happens simultaneously with a beggar to whom received tremendous oversight from this rich fellow on a daily note. The rich man (in a twinkling of an eye) becomes debased in poverty at his death, while the poor beggar becomes rich eternally long. The rich man’s compassion for his own surfaced due to exposure in eternal torment, exercising a final request in futility. The response given (vv.29-31) contrasts our opportunity in being awakened on today (cf. 2 Cor.6:2).

Amazingly and upon further investigation I noticed that the spiritual record never mentioned a name for the rich man, while the beggar was referred to as Lazarus. Does HE know your name (*Rev.21:26-27)?

Today’s Thought “Putting Feet on Belief” G. Ward

“Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.” Acts 2:46-47

Local worship assemblies were never meant to be established on principles in preference. The spiritual work of the Pastor (in preparation and prayer *Ac.6:4) embraces the concept given him as he prepares congregants “for the work of the ministry” (Eph.4:12). The predominant constituency however, violates this spiritual effort by reliance on what they pay him to enact (I.e. manufacturing a euphoric atmosphere on Sunday that will attract seekers and visitors to join the local fellowship, violating the premise of every believer making disciples and not waiting for Sunday to do so).

Inconsistency in attendance, with chants of I’m a believer, is the false depository that questions a blessed assurance that Jesus is theirs; while comfortable unto remaining angry with Holy God when answers are needed upon calamity striking (Pr.1:24-29) and just hearing crickets.

Today’s Thought “Just Keep Giving but You’re Not the Boss” G. Ward

Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.” John 6:26

Proprietary is a good word, only when I’m the owner (cf. Ps.24:1). Signed, Living for the Weekend, When It’s Only Wednesday

Today’s Thought “You Want It, You Got It” G. Ward

“Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days—You would not believe if you were told.” Habakkuk 1:5

Appeals to Holy God cannot/shouldn’t prepare for reprieve on one’s own terms. Amazingly, local fellowships purport fantastic prophecies towards hundreds or thousands of worshippers (cf. Mt.7:21) throughout auditoriums (weekly) that are no less promises of no more trouble, while sharing very little on true contingency for peace (i.e. repentance).

The Word of God is not the textbook of liberal arts; it’s astoundingly opposite of earthly thoughts. Moreover and throughout both testaments, Holy God caused great destruction, even up to death for many who felt intelligent enough in distorting His commands. The beauty in privatized worship is that it helps us to know of His great care for us. While sufferings are continual, HIS eternal presence continues to supersede all of them. It’s Good to Know JESUS!

Today’s Thought “Dark and Dismal” G. Ward

“So that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:45

Rain was equated with blessings from heaven because it enabled economic prosperity (as many were involved in agricultural pursuits). Our diversity (vocationally) abhors a rainy day, more contemplating how it hinders both travel and mindful vigor. Ultimately, selfish transcendence

of insistence that demands a tropical seventy-seven degree with no clouds in the sky and bright sunshine, precludes that when it’s not given our spirits pervade a downcast positioning. Moreover, personal responsibility in observing the way of the Master in seeing that others regard the day’s opportunity to have their every burden lifted by HIM who is truly proven (promoting peace, Mt.11:28-30), enables vulnerability to yesterday’s woes (cf. Ps.118:24). Extend an umbrella unto another saturated in despair, allowing their new journey to become an appreciated reckoning (of spiritual proportion), no matter the weather.

Today’s Thought “When I Grow Up…” G. Ward

“And there was a prophetess, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years and had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers.” Luke 2:36-37

No, you cannot move in at your place of worship similar to what Anna did. Ours would consider more an opportunity in avoidance of mortgage payments and utilities vs. gaining greater dependence n Holy God. Moreover,  the particulars of Anna’s spiritual endeavor is given to us that our consideration wouldn’t necessarily mimic the same, but insist on a personal, authentic pursuit of the All-Wise Savior.

The activity of belief has become your faith; it’s certainly not what is said (Jas.2:14-17). Anna’s devotion was incessant, imposing on any who would listen to the mighty works of Holy God (Lk.2:38). If/when you offer defense mechanisms that speaks to the many tasks you’re involved with (daily) that disables a concise presentation of gospel Truth unto those disconnected, it must first contemplate (not circumvent) Who enables breath to achieve anything (Jn.15:5).

Today’s Thought “Bare Before the Master” G. Ward

“Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “Return to Me with all your heart, And with fasting, weeping and mourning; and rend your heart and not your garments.”Now return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness and relenting of evil.” Joel 2:12-13

Our Maker knew before creating us what October 4, 2017 was going to present for the life HE allowed; even our innermost thoughts prior to surfacing. We however remain guarded, fearing discovery from others with both thoughts and activity not worthy of presentation. This kind of practiced obscurity is far more difficult than surrender to righteousness that portrays being “owned” as unsatisfactory an achievement (cf. 1 Cor.6:19-20).

Today’s wakeup call didn’t occur when the alarm sounded or when enough rest was your determination, but was/is HIS relentless pursuit of you, because HE loves the potential of your existence. After apologizing for efforts in futility, admit how necessary it is that real rest becomes yours (Mt.11:28-30). He’s waiting; but soon His patience will turn to judgment.

Happy Wednesday!

Today’s Thought “Multi-Tasking through Pain” G. Ward

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” John 14:3

Every land introduced in the Word of God that celebrated prosperity in lengthy terms was guilty in dishonoring Holy God as Keeper. Sufferings, in man’s estimation are never celebratory; but remembrance of effect insists on the immediacy in my soul’s desire to be soothed (cf. Ac.4:12). It then craves the inherency to my earthly existence: that is, adoring Holy God for being a present help in difficulty (Ps.46:1).

Paris, London, Harvey, Irma, Jose, Maria, Mandalay Bay, North Korean threats, narcissism from most, discord, jealousies and me, is that which necessitates more meditations and supplications, keeping us ‘Closer With THEE…”

Today’s Thought “Laid to Rest?” G. Ward

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

There’s cultural permissiveness rendered from many that is opposite of Holy God’s demand for every human regarding dying unto Himself (Jn.14:6). Every entertainer (upon dying) is said to be with the greats who have passed away many years prior and will be responsible in forming that heavenly choir (never proposed). After the masses hear of the demise of a loved one, blanket rehearsed statements seek to extend comfort to those closest to the deceased by insisting “they’re in a better place,” cheapening efforts in reciprocity from believers who have died; not a physical death, but a spiritual one (Mt.16:24, Gal.2:20).

When something is inferred incessantly many can/will forget to investigate its worthiness and doing so may cost them eternally. “And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain for He says,At the acceptable time I listened to you,
And on the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is “the acceptable time,” behold, now is “the day of salvation” (2 Cor.6:1-2).

Today’s Thought “Divisiveness Furthered” G. Ward

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” Romans 8:18

Have you been in line at your local food outlet patiently waiting for the customer ahead of you to complete their purchase while the person behind you is breathing (literally) on your person? Without words and more than often, they want you to proceed to a place whereby they can begin placing their items on the conveyor belt (surely that will compel the cashier unto perceived efficiency).

The world’s many perspectives desire us to cling accordingly and when our conformity therein lacks consideration, the people of the cause hate you (*cf. Jn.15:18-25). The rest needed for every man exists in Truth (the Person of Jesus – Jn.14:6).  A search for reprieve that gathers many unto what seemingly is a rightful perspective, will soon reveal hatred’s ongoing cycle from other factions considering their cause as best to pursue (Ac.4:12). The rest needed for man is dependency on the All Wise Savior; that advocacy concentrates on the few who will trust implicitly…

Happy Thursday!

Today’s Thought “Horrid Misappropriation” G. Ward

If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.” 1 Peter 1:17-19

My wife and I are proud of our three grandsons. We’ve watched every educational impartation seek to make them intellectual giants (even up to learning foreign language). Our witnessing this presumed progress (although very much needed) in math, history, etc., must insist they embrace (even more) what is spiritually deemed “life’s purpose” that is Knowing Christ as Lord (Deut.6:4-7).

Deciphering the Theory of Relativity and reciting The Preamble is a side bar in contrast to the WHO that enables breath for every task (cf. Jn.15:5).

Happy Wednesday!

Today’s Thought “My Opinion Matters” G. Ward

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4

Jesus, after His wilderness experience demonstrated tremendous spiritual endurance at a time in physical exhaustion and vulnerability to share how we also can embody resistance when dependant on Holy God (cf.! Pe.1:16). Perspectives divide, creating ideologues. Moreover, it’s with the demand of a bully who insists on a crowd while he bashes the victim (*cf. Ac.2:44). There’s no resolution to myriads of perspectives any different than the predominance of America agreeing on lunch this afternoon.

The wholeness in the gospel message does not celebrate man’s ideology; but insists that mankind begin working on Holy God control (honoring HIS omniscience over our limited scope – cf. Jas.2:14-20). When quarrels persist, faith is absent (Jas.4:1-5).

Happy Tuesday!

Today’s Thought  Either Or vs. Both, And” G.Ward

“No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” Luke 16:13

No matter how exhilarating worship services were on yesterday, the truest response is the activity of today (Jas.1:22). Monday for America is often a paradigm that demands more; particularly comparable to last week’s lack. Moreover, the very promptings in effort depends more on every process, making Holy God last; devising a plan to then seek a blessing from the Creator. Next Sunday is quickly approaching and the conditions presented this week will soon be the visitation on the same date even for 2018. While arguments seemingly prudent may purport monetary gain, contemplations of long term illness (whereby monies cannot purchase ultimate healing) along with inevitable death (meaning you can’t take it with you), is rarely the consideration when assumed prosperity answers to no one (cf. Jas.1:2-4).

Let worship be victorious in this moment given you via an on-going question posed unto Sufficiency: “What will present my Lord the honor due Him as You seek to lead me?”

Happy Monday!

Today’s Thought “De-Sensitized” G. Ward

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.” Romans 12:15-16

The Richter scale is used to express the magnitude of an earthquake. Days ago the world witnessed Mexico’s tragic earthquake registering an all time high (7.1 – Richter Scale = seismic quakes instrumental in killing more than 230 people and they’re still pulling bodies from the rubble). Then there are our own countrymen in Puerto Rico, who are currently experiencing Hurricane Maria with category 3 and 4 winds wreaking havoc in the entirety of the land.

Religionists are confounded as they search for answers to provide the masses and when there are none, many mis-appropriate Holy God’s word to fit their own prominence among the people. When the same occurred in Haiti (7 years ago), spiritual zealots made it relative to their sin as if America is not more sinful. Perhaps we’re guilty of watching blow by blow accounts echoing chants of “what a shame” and the most heinous statement ever “with all these hurricanes and earthquakes (as of recent), maybe God is trying to tell us something!”

Holy God, the Maker of heaven and earth and all of its contents isn’t “trying” to do anything! HE alone is Sovereign (HE rules the universe, when and how HE desires)! His will must be honored among men before another prayer is given (2 Chr.7:14, Mt.7:21).

Have A Contemplative Thursday.

Today’s Thought “My Feelings” G. Ward

Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written: "So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge." Romans 3:4

Let’s all agree that we need several more perspectives concerning circumstances of this world enabling this ugly monster (forever under construction) to be completed. The wholeness in the gospel message does not celebrate man’s ideology; but insists that mankind begin working on Holy God control (honoring HIS omniscience over our limited scope – cf. Jas.2:14-20).

Contrasting the worse practitioners of what life should represent against my own that seeks to live a quiet, moral existence is an improper gauge (cf. Mt.5:44, Eph.6:12). Every life given should ask how theirs compare to the greatest KING ever – Jesus (Eph.5:1-2).

Happy Wednesday!

Today’s Thought “Sin’s Journey” G. Ward

“You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.” Micah 7:19

Buddhist and Hindu religions celebrate Karma; it mandates that your life lived until dying determines the journey after reincarnation (cf. Heb.9:27). Howbeit that believers support such heinous philosophy amidst saying God’s grace is sufficient? A prostitute is listed in the lineage of Jesus our Lord and a zealous, murderous Pharisee was used by Holy God to record two-thirds of the New Testament (cf. Ro.8:33-35). If/when killers, liars and thieves like you and me receive redemption, yet perpetuate this notion of “what goes around, comes around” mentality, you more portray that some things are too difficult for God, prioritizing judgment over sharing gospel truth (cf. Ro.3:10,5:8,6:23,10:9,13). God forbid!

Happy Tuesday!

Today’s Thought “Subtle Reminders” G. Ward

“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12

The new Christian misconstrues the actual message of Christ when they adopt worldly fables in peace without strife. There would be no need for peace if strife didn’t exist. Hurriedly moving beyond what perceivably is negative forgets “we were God's enemies” before our reconciliation (cf. Ro.6:16-18). I’m so glad Holy God is nothing like our nature. He pursues us with an un-relenting love. If HIS mercy lacked endurance for every generation (whereas ours more persists in conditional love), mankind wouldn’t exist (Ro.3:10, 23).

Running from individuals pervading negative unto you more than likely reveals unfaithful fortitude to pray and imitate the Savior (*cf. Lk.23:34).

Happy Monday!

Today’s Thought “The Vanity In Expression” G. Ward

“Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a good conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things.” Hebrews 13:18

Our recent storm damage at our church defied Newton's law of universal gravitation causing every local news network’s fascination with our dilemma. The interviews conducted sought my elaborating on this uneventful occurrence. When the bright light went on (emblematic of “live” TV) I didn’t remember the big pimple on my face (and yes old folks still get them), nor did I prepare a preliminary discourse that would impress, but I began contemplating the viewers of those telecasts by insisting that our souls think on the ones from both Hurricane Harvey and Irma whose walls came tumbling down (our hole in the roof won’t compare).

Frivolity awaits the checks to pour in (as compassion with prayers and alms become the expression), while humility seeks to bring honor to the Creator when given the chance (cf. 1 Pe.4:11, Col.4:6).

Happy Thursday!

Today’s Thought “A Fascination With Food” G. Ward

When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour the disciple took her into his own household. John 19:26-27

My wife and I are empty-nesters now that our sons are adults with children, but it would have been a shame in considering the house to which we live currently (it’s on a rural route) while they were growing up. Both their Mother and I were privileged to interact with others through subdivision life. The relationships we established with those years of interdependence still exist; we were family.

I’m reminded on today of such relationships considerate of Mrs. Adrienne Stewart’s passing on yesterday. Her son and I attended kindergarten together, leaving for college from the same group of homes. Our kindergarten years involved attending half days and there was trade-offs between parents when appointments would arise. The year was 1924 and one such a morning happened (parental trade off) and Mrs. Stewart stepped in to receive me no different than her own. My Mother couldn’t have chosen a better time, for these were the days when parents would arise early preparing a full breakfast. The whole time she was preparing this spectacular breakfast my stomach was in knots, but I was determined to suffer while eating this bacon, eggs, grits and toast. The moment arrived and my calling to fulfill wasn’t arduous. My immature mind however couldn’t navigate running to the bathroom, therefore the bacon, eggs, grits and toast with jam quickly became covered with a special gravy consisting of regurgitated gastric juices. Mrs. Stewart without hesitance commissioned her son to finish eating while she bathed me to then offer me crumpets suitable for a queasy stomach. She became my Mother too. The spiritual realm in our truest existence is without biological parameter.

Happy Wednesday!

Today’s Thought “Assessing the Damage” G. Ward

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.” Psalm 139:23-24

Warnings from meteorologists, government and others that sought to keep communities safe (i.e. discouraging travel) during remnants of Hurricane Irma was for some unavoidable. I was successful in remaining at home until receiving a dreaded telephone call from one having witnessed our church steeple having been blown off to pierce our roof in several places. The damage we’ve experienced won’t compare to the tens of thousands traveling back to the southern region with great anxiety uncertain about the residual damage from the storm.

We’ve all been exposed to great storm with horrid residual damage and there’s no insurance adjuster that can prompt comfort for rebuilding. There is however an assurance of peace that demands our repentant heart recognizes the holy absolution of the Father’s care. HE alone is the Shelter needed for every storm.

Happy Tuesday!
