Today’s Thought “I Dream of Genie” G. Ward

Matthew 6:8-9 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Pray, then, in this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

I believe this warrants an absolute slow down. Did you just speed through this passage based on familiarity? Generations prior have recited the same to never view this as the model prayer in Christ’s intention for every believer. Moreover, we’ve missed that every prayer was to be governed by this holy dynamic; God knows and that His will is entirely indifferent than man’s (Isa.55:8-9).

Our times insist on a “morphine drip” via a heavenly intravenous port that takes away every pain at an instant, along with a superior bank from Heaven’s institution that gives liberally and exceedingly more than one ever imagined although horribly de-contextualized. The wholeness of the “Genie in the Bottle” perception of God that mandates if you ask you’ll receive, forgets the sole contingency that it must be in accordance to HIS will (cf.*Gal.6:7-8) and the opposite contrast was a television series long ago.
