Today’s Thought “Secret Agent Man” G. Ward

Revelation 12

11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

Great lengths in what was the most tumultuous death was given by Christ for the sinful idiocy of mankind and whereas our Lord personally proclaimed HE would be dead for three days and then rise (Matt.12:40, 16:21, 27:63, John 2:19), finds our celebratory praise on another Good Friday, for HIS mighty victory over death. Jesus would die on a Friday (Nisan 14) and His resurrection on the third day would occur on the first day of the week (Sunday) and while it appears argumentative by some seeking error (*where none is found), it truly unfolds unbelief (*cf. Matt.12:39). Hebrew reckoning (particularly of that era) calendarized days differently (sundown to sunset = not by hours / e.g., even the term “forty days and forty nights” was euphemistically indicating 40 days, or more than one month).

Our thankfulness for this Holy Week must transcend our praise, through a preparation that answers (authoritatively) what it means to know HIM (1 Pe.3:15); doing so for Love’s sake (1 John 4:8). Moreover, having a personal relationship with our Lord, won’t ever adopt an avoidance of talking of religion and to do so unashamedly (*while absolutely needful of disquieting discussion of politics – Matt.24:35) and that testimony must be altered from a traditional perception of how He took my sickness away, or how monies were provided in my time of need, but must circumvent how HE’S still loving the world, even them who feel not so worthy (Ro.5:8) and how HE desires a love relationship with them …
