Today’s Thought “Incensed” G. Ward

“When your son asks you in time to come, saying, What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which the Lord our God commanded you?  Then you shall say to your son, We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and the Lord brought us from Egypt with a mighty hand.” Deuteronomy 6:20-21

Friday nights maintain an anticipated excitement for small-town U.S.A. High school football is the tradition most families won’t forsake. Seeing the townspeople in mass is with the continuity canvassed by the infamous Norman Rockwell. In the stands the prelude to the competition, spectators await the local pastor’s invocation to God. Many then are fidgety, hats on, ensuring there’s enough popcorn, hearing that little Jenny has got to pee, etc. Here comes the Marching Band! There in perfect formation awaiting the most excellent local vocalist’s rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. Everyone is silent, tears welt up in the eyes of many while hands from veterans salute, proud of their service and even the children know this is not the time to announce bathroom responsibilities. Perhaps Holy God in heaven for this dispensational era allows catastrophe for any land to occur because of a soulful misappropriation of where salvation emanates. O say can you see?

Happy Monday!
