Ward 1 Kings 19 1 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me and more so, if by about this time tomorrow I do not make your life like the life of one of them.” 3 And he was afraid, and got up and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah; and he left his servant there. The trust Elijah the Prophet had in Holy God was recently so great as the Almighty performed numerous miracles through him to encounter not the king, but his wife’s venomous, retributive injunction that demanded his death and for moments this man of God forgot the clarity of his demand (unto these unbelievers) embraced what the Creator would do, not him (1 Ki.18:21-24). We’re in a similar season and Jezebel is the world. Don’t forget Who’s greater (cf. Matt.10:28).
