Today’s Thought “Crown Achievement”
G. Ward
Matthew 4:18
“Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw
two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.”
While the
Apostle Peter would receive great acclaim, even listed as the chief Apostle,
there was his inconspicuous brother Andrew, who’d first insist Peter come
along, as he would introduce him to the Messiah hoped for (John 1:40-42). Not
much is said about Andrew and perhaps he was equally inconspicuous in every
realm of life; but what we know is his zeal for righteousness culminated in the
Savior knowing his name.
While
many follow those who seemingly occupy mountaintop experiences contiguously, it
perhaps could be more beneficial in following the one walking with a limp; for
his struggle is evident and presents life’s actualities, causing a dependence
on ONE who won’t slumber (*Ps.121:1).
