Matthew 12

⁴² The Queen of the South will rise up with this generation at the judgment and will condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

 

The pageantry of Solomon’s kingdom was known globally for that era and the Wealthy Queen of Sheba would also come to investigate Solomon’s wisdom and possessions. She would soon encounter Solomon’s Great and Sufficient God, as this earthly king would extend full accolades to HIS MAJESTY (1 Kings 10:1-13). The religious leaders of Jesus’ day in earth were threatened by the Christ and HIS superior wisdom, challenging HIS credentials and their defiance in all HE demonstrated forecasted imminent judgment for them by taking them back to what they knew well (the Old Testament); Jonah’s defiance (Jonah 1), along with a Queen’s visitation of Solomon. Our Lord demanded they know that at their judgment, the intended audience of the Prophet Jonah and the Queen herself will testify to God’s Glory.
