Acts 8:1
Now Saul
approved of putting Stephen to death. And on that day a great
persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and they were
all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for
the apostles.
The unjust murder
sanctioned by an overly zealous Pharisee (Saul), would soon thereafter
encounter a Gracious Savior, destroying doubt from the same one, whereby on that
day, Saul would submit to Christ as Lord of his life; even offering genuine
repentance, along with availability to our Lord’s demands (*Ac.9:3-6). Saul
would become the Apostle Paul, illustrative of God having mercy on whom HE
chooses (Ro.9:15), compelling us to absolutely follow our Leader; always
looking to another’s potential (cf. 1 Cor.6:9-11).
