Today’s Thought “A Strong Defense” G. Ward
“Therefore bear fruit in keeping with
repentance; and do not suppose that you can say to
yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father’; for I say to you that from these
stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham.” Matthew 3:8-9
Disturbance is rarely anticipated. The
sudden impact is the surreal experience undesired. Our hope relies on a
predecessor’s stand in stalwart strength worth modeling when calamity of sorts
strikes. Here lies the essence in struggle; their (i.e. our predecessors)
strength personified was indicative of their own experiences, while ours
commands a unique, intimate experience. Rather than reach towards an entirely
unfamiliar journey found in another that seems worthy in follow-ship, seek
righteousness that’s outside the scope of humanity, compelling a pursuit without
regret (cf. 2 Cor.6:1-3).
Happy Friday!
