Today’s Thought “Golden Gloves” G. Ward
Romans 7:24-25
Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.
A gladiator must never arrive in a fighting ring over-confident, but honor his training as positive counteraction against the opponent. Moreover, thoughts of one’s own frailty understands endurance is tried when adrenaline secreted in extreme proportion at the beginning of the trial is without guarantee towards the end of a contest when it counts (Eccl.9:11), which brings us back to the prior assurance; training that promotes confidence (*Heb.4:16).
