Today’s Thought “Are You Sure You Want to Know?” G.
Ward
“My
dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody
does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He
is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the
sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:1-2
There’s unfortunate expectancy from the predominance in society regarding
answers of eternal proportion rarely given by those esteemed by man. Moreover
and sadly, even those walking in prudence seemingly stumble, not willing to
share absolutes (i.e. right vs. wrong) because it may offend and is divisive (*cf.
Matt.10:34-39).
I owe it to
the whole in every generation currently to make myself available to the kind of
questioning needing answers from an authoritative source and the regard shared
must expeditiously and unwaveringly be willing to stand in Truth with mercy. The Apostle John writes to the church
as an old man with horrid beginnings as a young man. His introspection looks to
those younger (chronological and faith’s regard) as “little children” because
he understood Holy God’s view of the entirety of mankind needing admonition,
along with nurturing to the end.
