Today’s
Thought “Treasure Hunt” G. Ward
“Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the
kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?” James 2:5
More than fifty percent of the World’s population (6 billion +) survive
each day on $2.50 or less. As you do the math, unfathomable is no less
encompassing your thoughts. Abject poverty is rarely an American view until we
encounter homelessness and even then, humanitarian relief may be imminent.
Our Friday nights is a “date night” for our church. We venture unto
downtown Atlanta to offer our Lord’s hospitality (food, clothing, etc.). We’ve
done this for almost 10 years and our primary intent never sought to have pity
on the less fortunate. This hospitality shown our friends always blesses our
mindsets. It re-introduces more similarity in mankind than difference. Furthermore
it teaches us that Poor, is relative to perspective. When we fail to see as the
Savior saw, the fortune before us can’t be found (cf. Mt.9:36-38)…
Happy Friday!
