Today’s
Thought “Forsaking A First Love” G. Ward
“But when Cephas came to Antioch, I
opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. For prior
to the coming of certain men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but
when they came, he began to
withdraw and hold himself aloof, fearing the party of the circumcision. The
rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas
was carried away by their hypocrisy.” Galatians 2:11-13
It’s been said that
cousins are generally the first friends of your life. Siblings are more prone
for gathering when the expansion of family occurs. That celebratory effect may
become contagious, inciting others to produce. Unfortunately the ingathering
diminishes as the children of siblings become older. Therefore if visitation of
family should occur (upon being older and not seeing one another with
regularity) every ordinary friend or thing is subject to neglect.
Truth applied can be
the same. That to which we embrace on daily terms can become too familiar. The
elation that was once heartfelt can then crave an un-orthodox value system. My
admonishing on today is that you re-enter the sanctuary (cf. Ps. 73:1-17) and
establish an uninterruptible practice therein, so that which was ripe when
eaten (cf. Ezek.3:1-3) can remain freshly vivid to receive.
Happy Wednesday!
