Today’s Thought “The End Goal” G.
Ward
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting
away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary
affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all
comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that
are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are
unseen are eternal.
I believe
our trials, particularly for the American, certainly can be overwhelming, but
is often exacerbated by/through a refusal to endeavor how God is still loving
the world and whereas many beyond our borders are continually exposed to
existential threat of starvation and clean drinking water, amidst governments
embracing totalitarianism, many times our dilemma is generally associative to
financial deficiencies. Moreover, these tribulations of ours, even discount the
whole of history that witnessed our foreparents’ struggle to provide food for
their family and while we’re disappointed when leftovers are served – it’s
greatly indicative of what my friend (visiting and on missionary assignment
from W. Africa) says, “Americans are spoiled”.
While my
compassion onto any grievous remains, along with others enduring mental anguish
of sorts continues, I certainly hope for many others to more contemplate the
avenue given in this today, where spiritual recapitulation
is offered (*Phil.4:4-7), even remembering how our merciful Savior’s rescue of
us, calls for best stewardship of our earthly posture – whereby desires/pleasures
must be weighed against HIS Word that guarantees our peace (although troubles
persist).
