Today’s Thought “True Devotion” G. Ward
“They were continually devoting themselves
to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to
prayer.” Acts 2:42
The Rabbi of old was recognized in the
market place, perhaps causing those inconsistent with attending worship
services to offer defiled defense as unprompted verbiage unto their bishop with
echoes of false narrative on why they missed. I know it all too well. I’ve
become quite the public figure also (via funeral officiating, weddings, invocations,
etc.) and being greeted by many unfamiliar is quite normal with immediate
sentiment of “I’ll see you on Sunday Pastor!”
Those who know (intimately acquainted) the
Lord never need a wake-up call or awaken to conjured illness and impromptu
family visitation; there’s Saturday preparation that anticipates great Sunday
fellowship (*Let’s not forget mid-week services.) forgetting about the
arthritis and headaches via ingestion of ibuprofen, while clearing the house of
every human, demanding an adoption of Joshua’s stance that maintains, “If
it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods
which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the
Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will
serve the Lord” (Josh.24:15).
Happy Wednesday!
