Today’s
Thought “An Age Old Question” G. Ward
“Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden. Cain had relations with his wife and she conceived, and gave birth to Enoch; and he built a city, and called the name of the city Enoch, after the name of his son.” Genesis 4:16-17
To question a matter can be relatively inquisitive, but the words from Holy God proposed unto man desires an answer on their own terms (cf. Isa. 55:8-9). How is it possible to relate to the sovereignty of God in contrast to the science of proof? Has man determined where the rainbow emanates? How can the ocean divide into high walls to allow passage from bondage (Ex. 14:20-22)? Furthermore, how can a virgin be impregnated? While the inception of man (Adam and Eve) is acceptable to many along with the birth of their sons, another faction demands to know, “Where did Cain’s wife come from after he killed his brother?”
Let’s not mistaken Michelangelo’s rendition (through paintings) of Jesus to think Holy God has eyes, ears, etc. (cf. Jn.1:1-2, 14, 4:24). I refuse to call Him Author and Finisher of my faith if HE were anything remotely close to what I could potentially find in another! Considering He’s not, I’ll worship Him…
Happy Thursday!
