Today’s Thought “Lone Wolf” G. Ward

"I will set My face against that man and make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from among My people. So you will know that I am the LORD. "But if the prophet is prevailed upon to speak a word, it is I, the LORD, who have prevailed upon that prophet, and I will stretch out My hand against him and destroy him from among My people Israel. "They will bear the punishment of their iniquity; as the iniquity of the inquirer is, so the iniquity of the prophet will be…” Ezekiel 14:8-10

I’m recalling a commercial from the early 70’s promoting some kind of advocacy. It featured a host of children (seemingly impoverished) while a recording of “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” played in the backdrop. It caused any watching great pause along with sorrow. It was an era when the populous understood “the least of these” was the responsibility of the prosperous ones.

We’re now 40+ years later to now experience great irresponsibility among purveyors of eternal matters. Rarely are any of these self appointed leaders promulgating a consequence for sin. Their every message has become the chant of the listening audience – “Great things are in store, you just wait and see!” It’s no wonder that all feel heaven is theirs. Will any stand as the prophet was compelled in times past? In a reprobate society that contrasts historicity’s sinful practices, we’re worse in exponential proportions. Why then are the celebratory comments so pervasive, along with the extraction (from Holy God’s word) of only those kinder, gentler expressions? What saith thee?

Happy Tuesday!
