Today’s
Thought “Cape Crusader” G. Ward
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk
in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering
and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.” Ephesians 5:1-2
As a child I enjoyed the original adventures of Batman and Robin. These
caped crusaders were protectant of their city (Gotham City). Various villains
sought to overtake this town and sometimes the world with their divisive schemes.
These plans introduced unto Batman and Robin would often have
them perplexed and bothered about the enormity of the task presented. Robin
would often exclaim, “Holy” as a prefacing to an additional word, implying how
difficult diffusing this evil would be.
When reading Ephesians 5:1-2, I too exclaim, “holy difficulty” as Robin
would; stating emphatically the gargantuan task given man (to imitate Christ).
Sure, we’ve had some success in this. Defeating the major villain to this cause
(Gal.5:24), our very selves (flesh), makes this compelling found in Holy God’s
word demand a better consistency. Moreover, it reminisces the grace and mercy
given individually, leaving us to question, “what shall I render to this Great
King?” The answer = faithfulness…
Happy Monday!
